Turns out it's National Fish and Chip Day — and who are we to argue with a day like that?
There's something just right about proper fish and chips done well. Crisp, golden batter, flaky fish underneath, a good heap of chips and mushy peas, and a wedge of lemon to finish. Nothing fussy. Just one of those plates that makes everyone go quiet for a minute.
Whether you're nipping in for lunch or making an evening of it, we've got a cosy spot with your name on it. Midweek's a lovely time to come too — a little quieter, no rush, just good food and a proper welcome.

Skip the bank holiday traffic. We've brought the coast to you.
Costa del Walton is officially open ☀️
Cold drinks dripping with condensation, proper fish and chips, ice creams melting just slow enough to enjoy, and a brand new outdoor area with umbrellas, tables and all the sunshine West Yorkshire can throw at us.
No queues on the A1. No two-hour crawl to the seaside. Just a short drive, a cold one in hand, and a plate of something brilliant.

We are back open as usual today, serving our fantastic new menu all day.

We were devastated to have to remain closed due to a village power cut yesterday evening.

Thankfully, we are back open as usual today and even more excited to welcome you all.

Thank you to all our guests for their patience and understanding. We worked really hard to make sure we found an alternative venue for everyone.

The sun is shining today so come and relax in our beer garden.

Unfortunately, Walton village and the surrounding area are experiencing a power cut this evening and, sadly, we are therefore unable to welcome guests tonight at The Fox.

The current advice from Northern Powergrid is that power may not be restored until at least 9pm.

We’re absolutely heartbroken not to be able to serve everyone this evening and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment this will cause.

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding and continued support — it really does mean a great deal to us.

Meet Parker, one of our very first regulars since reopening, and very much part of The Fox family. You'll often spot them settled in while their humans enjoy a drink or a proper meal — and we wouldn't have it any other way.
