Thank you to everyone who came along to The Hunters Leap first birthday book club last night! I had such a lovely evening chatting about Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall and eating the amazing cake Kerry brought along! I hope you all end up loving your birthday book too.
But what did we think of Broken Country? Well, it scored highly! One of my favourite comments of the night was that it was “one of my favourite books ever”.
We found the characters relatable and, just like at another book club that discussed this book, we really felt that small-town atmosphere and how it shaped the story.
One thing we talked about A LOT was the characters’ ages versus how old we perceived them to be. Once we realised they were in their late 20s, we were much more forgiving…
