Following on from our visit from the Melton Mowbray, and Loughborough branches of CAMRA, we recently welcomed visitors from the Northamptonshire branch, on their tour of Warwickshire, Good B**r Guide pubs.

Our Bass 🔺proved very popular, as did our Oakham Ales Mohawk, and a few who were very excited to tick off a new brew, Boston Fat Boy, an occasional special from Church End Brewery

Having visited a few pubs before us, and with several more to visit, the ale was dispatched swiftly, and they were on their way, leaving us a copy of their latest CAMRA magazine, Over The Barrel.

Good to see, an old looking pub, The Red Lion at Brackley, re-opening after a period of closure, and that The Kings Arms at Polebrook is to be saved from closure by the local community !
An interesting article on pub walks, highlights a Grand Union canal walk from Northampton station to Kislingbury, taking in numerous pubs, such as the Thomas a'Becket pub !

We'll be keeping a copy of this, and the Leicestershire Drinker, recently left with us, if anyone wishes to read it. (see Wednesday's post)
And of course, if there are any more CAMRA branches that wish to visit and leave us a copy of their branch booklet, we'd be delighted to see you.

Our Good B**r Guide status, means we often get a visit from real ale enthusiasts from other areas, and recently we have two groups come to see us. Firstly, we received a visit from members of the Melton Mowbray, and Loughborough branch.

There was definitely a keenness to go 'across the bar', taking in Sperrin Brewery Band of Brothers, Church End Brewery Goats Milk and of course, our resident Bass 🔺
They kindly left us a copy of their booklet, Leicestershire Drinker, which has various interesting articles inside, including one about The C**k Inn, at Sibson. Numerous other pubs are advertised including the intriguingly named 'Stilton Cheese Inn' at Melton Mowbray, which looks amazing. 'The Ale Stone' in Aylestone, and The Pharmacie Arms, Syston.

After a couple of hours, the non-drinking mini-bus driver hailed 'everyone out' and they were on their way.

A lovely bunch of people, who were very complimentary, and who we hope enjoyed their stay with us.
