Now that's not something you see every day! ✈️🇬🇧

We were very lucky this weekend to have the Red Arrows fly right over THE STAR on Saturday — not once, but twice!

This video was captured at 6.33pm and is definitely one for the history books. Whether you were in our beer garden, or simply enjoying the sunshine, there’s a good chance you heard them before you saw them!

The RAF Red Arrows, the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, were in the area as part of the display programme linked to the Midlands Air Festival and our friends across the way at East Midlands Airport >> East Midlands Aeropark

It's always a special moment when something extraordinary interrupts an ordinary Saturday afternoon, and for a few moments all eyes in West Leake were firmly fixed on the skies above.

There's something wonderfully English about a summer evening at THE STAR... ☀️🍻

The sun's beginning to dip, glasses clink, and then, from somewhere down the lane, comes the sound of bells, sticks and music...

We're delighted to welcome The Dolphin Morris Men back to West Leake on Thursday 4th June, performing outside THE STAR from 8pm until 8.30pm.

Whether you're a lifelong fan of Morris dancing or simply curious to experience a tradition that's been entertaining communities for generations, it's always a fantastic sight and brings a real sense of occasion to the village.

Bells will jingle, sticks will clash, handkerchiefs may be waved. Summer in West Leake doesn't get much more traditional than that. 😄🍻

In honour of National Beer Garden Day this week… and temperatures in West Leake currently rivalling Ibiza 🌴🍻

…we thought we’d share a few photos from our VERY busy pub garden last year! (There are also some pretty scenic empty ones too!)

Sunshine, cold drinks, catch-ups with friends, dogs asleep under tables, sunglasses appearing for the first time in months… this is what pub garden season is all about. Will you be joining us this summer? 🍺☀️

We’re looking for:

• A Part Time Housekeeper & Cleaner
• A Part Time Gardener

Our housekeeping & cleaning role helps look after our accommodation rooms and keep everything looking welcoming, comfortable, and spotless for guests both in the pub, restaurant and rooms.

For the gardening role, you may have already spotted the poster we’ve shared — perfect for someone who enjoys being outdoors and helping keep The Star looking its best through the seasons 🌼

🛑🛑🛑CLOSED! Picked out of ripe fruit🛑🛑🛑

Who’s ready?! 🍓

We’ll be open on Wednesday 27th May from 10am until 5pm to pick our early ripening strawberries.

We only have a small amount ready to pick so will update you all tomorrow evening on any further opening days this week. Don’t worry though it looks like it’s going to be a bumper crop so there’s plenty more to come!

🍓£3 entry fee per person (15+) (redeemable against fruit purchases only)

The mini ferris wheel 🎡 and inflatable slide 🛝 will be open. We’ll also have slush 🥤ice cream 🍨 and freshly made doughnuts 🍩 available.

THE STAR over the Years continues… and now we arrive in 2024 🍻 ...And plenty happening both inside and outside the pub walls.

We welcomed a visit from the The Great British Pub Crawl back in May, revisited an early illustration from a previous menu design, and proudly continued supporting our local football team into October ⚽

And somehow, while all this was happening at THE STAR… Oasis reformed (we're big fans here 👀🎸), Taylor Swift brought The Eras Tour to the UK, and the country was glued to the shocking Post Office scandal story unfolding on TV.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us over the sunny Bank Holiday weekend at THE STAR ☀️🍻

From garden drinks and long lunches to relaxed evenings in the sunshine, it was lovely to see the place so full of life. We especially enjoyed seeing your Instagram Story shares of tipples in the garden too (>>So are sharing them here

A little update from Costa del West Leake ☀️🥵

Due to the kitchen temperature already reaching a rather tropical 52° today (yes, really 😳), our kitchen will be closing between 2.30pm and 5.30pm to give Dave a chance to cool down and avoid becoming part of the specials board.

We’ll still be serving lunch bookings as planned, and the kitchen will reopen this evening from 5.30pm.

Thank you for your understanding during this mini heatwave — it’s a warm one even out front, never mind in the kitchen!
