VAT’s the problem.

Hospitality is one of the UK’s greatest success stories. It employs millions of people, gives young people their first jobs, creates lifelong careers, keeps high streets alive and brings communities together.

But the sector is under enormous pressure. Rising energy costs. Food inflation. Huge employment costs. Unjust business rates. The highest tax burden in the UK economy. And on top of all of that - a 20% VAT rate that is among the highest in Europe.

Countries including Spain, Italy, France, Ireland and Germany know how important hospitality is to society, and they know it pays too much tax. That’s why they already support hospitality with lower VAT rates. The UK deserves the same.

A 10% VAT rate would:

• Support pubs, restaurants, cafes, hotels and nightclubs, and many more.
• Get businesses investing in jobs and helping our customers
• Strengthen high streets and local communities

Because when hospitality businesses close, communities lose far more than places to eat and drink, they lose connection, opportunity and local identity.

Another weekend is nearly here, and we’ve got something for everyone at The Shoe.

🎸 Saturday night from 8pm, we’re welcoming Jader Fialho for his Shoe debut. Expect a great mix of country, classic rock, pop and plenty of sing-along favourites.

🏎️ It’s also Monaco Grand Prix weekend! Catch Qualifying on Saturday at 3pm, followed by the big race on Sunday at 2pm.

🍽️ Feeling hungry? Food is served:
• Friday & Saturday: 12pm–8pm
• Sunday: 12pm–6pm

And if it’s Sunday, that can only mean one thing… our famous Sunday Roasts. Choose from Sirloin of Beef, Turkey, Honey & Mustard Ham, or go all-in with our Trio of Roasts.

Andddd breathe… the bank holiday weekend has come to an end😂

You may have seen the amazing Scarlett (you can find her on Instagram ) taking some photos for us at Horsin Around Fest, so I thought I’d share some of my favourites with you this morning and reflect on the crazy but brilliant day we had on Saturday,

Thank you to everybody who showed up in full force and supported us, in such a short space of time you have helped us in any way you can to create the community hub we envisioned building when coming to the village.

Thank you to the amazing sponsors that helped us put on the festival, there is no way we could’ve done the festival to the extent we did without you.

Thank you to every member of staff that worked their ass off in the blazing sun to serve you your drinks, try and keep the place from overflowing in glasses and plastics and paper plates, serve you your food and still have a laugh with you while overheating🥵

Thank you to the artists, DJ and face painter who brought the entertainment for the day and kept everybody dancing throughout the day. Connie Hope, Adam Smikle, Who’s Frank, Frankie Rogers, Kay’s Face painting. What an amazing lineup and you have all set the bar for the next time I decide to do something crazy.

Thank you to Simon Bateson for lending us a trailer on such short notice to use as an outside bar🍻

Thank you to Scarlett for offering to come and take pictures for us on the day, without you i wouldn’t be able to sit here and truly reflect on the party we threw, seeing the smiles on everybody’s face makes me want to do it again next weekend.

And thank you to our regulars that join us every single day and had to wait a little longer for their drinks.

Right I’m sure a majority of you haven’t made it this far and if you have you have had enough of my soppiness😂

After months of planning, countless posters, sponsorships, t-shirts, meetings, messages and probably far too much overthinking… Horsin Around Fest is finally here!

We’ve got a full day of live music, face painting for the kids, BBQ food, festival drinks, an outdoor bar and hopefully plenty of sunshine to go with it all. ☀️🍻
