The RAFYC’s premier celebration event of the year, the Battle of Britain Regatta is fast approaching and the excitement is building.
This is our annual event to commemorate the role the RAF played in the Battle of Britain campaign, the valiant 'Few', to recognise the losses and celebrate the hope it brought for our futures.
This year we are making the BOB an event for ALL ! Both Ashore and Afloat, Regatta, Cruising, Treasure Hunt, Games Ashore , Live Music , BBQ’s ……… a true festival of the RAFYC at its best.

The naming ceremony for our new launch 'John Chitson' on Sunday 12 July was attended by around 60 people, including John's family members, RAFYC members and distinguished guests. John would no doubt have enjoyed the occasion.
Occasions like this remind us that a club is much more than its boats, moorings and buildings; it is the people, the service, the shared memories and the quiet commitment that keep it moving forward.
This new launch will play an important part in the life of the club, helping members get afloat safely and supporting the activities that bring us together on the water. In naming her John Chitson, we honour a name that clearly means a great deal to this club and to those who knew him. It is fitting that his name should now be carried on the water, as part of the daily life and continuing story of The RAFYC.

Well, it's been a busy summer at the RAFYC so far, with BBQs, our Summer Party, lots of well attended Rallies, the delivery of our new Launch 'John Chitson' Admiral 2007-2026 (named in honour of our late admiral, who completely embodied everything this Club stands for and will be missed every day) and we still have the amazing RAFYC Festival yet to come in August and our exciting Battle of Britain Regatta in September with lots going on ashore and afloat. With lots of sunshine and good cheer, this is shaping up to be one of our best Summers yet!

Did you know that the RAFYC have mid-river moorings, both pontoon and trots. If you are looking for a berth, you can apply to join the Club and as a member you will then have the chance to take one of our moorings, depending on availability.
We currently have immediate availability on 2 of our pontoon moorings, for boats up to a maximum of 8.5m on one, and up to 9.75m on the other. If this may be of interest to you, please contact the office on 02380 452208 for further details. We are always open to new applicants 🙂

We are currently looking for a part-time housekeeper for between 6 and 12 hours per week. Ideally you will be local and have at least 1 years housekeeping/cleaning experience, have good communication skills and the ability to do the occasional extra shift to cover holidays. Another great year for Riverside House, the home of the Royal Air Force Yacht Club. Busier than ever, and still managed to improve our Traveller Review Awards score from 8.8 to 9.1 out of 10. Saturday 24th saw our Annual Burns Night Celebrations at the Club, where members enjoyed ceremony, poetry and a good sing-along and were served delicious Haggis, Lamb, Neeps and Tatties by Jim and his team at Flaming June Catering
