Set in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Dales near Skipton, we’ve been welcoming guests to our historic inn since the 17th century. We’re very lucky to have 21 rustic bedrooms offering not just a great night’s sleep but beautiful views that will encourage you to get up and make the most of your day. Don’t leave your four-legged friend at home, our bar and some of the bedrooms are dog-friendly – after all, exploring the Yorkshire Dales is much more fun with your dog at your side.

Here’s a little look inside our rooms at the Tempest: freestanding baths, walk-in rainfall showers and big comfy beds to fall into at the end of the day.

All our room rates include breakfast, and we’re right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales just outside Skipton. Over half term you’ve got the Bolton Abbey Pumpkin Trail and Skipton’s Halloween day at the canal basin close by, then back here for tea and a long soak.

Planning a 2027 wedding? Here’s something guests always appreciate: not having to work out how to get home.

At the Tempest, you can have your ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening party in the Pickhill Suite, and then your guests just head upstairs to our rooms. Everyone has breakfast together the next morning, which is often everyone’s favourite part.
