Following Our Chris Clarke on his journey through Africa, here is Chris’s update: “Getting very remote. 357km between any civilisation. This was approximately in the middle of “see signboard”. Riding is very tricky in fine sand , and patchy gravel. Stayed upright so far, but could really do with one of your Bierra Morettis, it’s been 37* all day 😅

One of the nicest people we have ever met and a privilege to work with. This news is absolutely heartbreaking.

We are deeply saddened by the death of North Yorkshire hill farmer Frank Carr, aged 35.

Frank was a familiar face to Farmers Guardian readers and someone we were fortunate to work with many times over the years.

From sharing the realities of farming more than 2,000 acres in the Yorkshire Dales to supporting and taking part in our Next Generation Hill Farmers series, Frank was passionate about his family, his livestock and the future of hill farming.

We have looked back at some of the moments and words Frank shared with us, and the contribution he made to British farming.

He was a true friend of Farmers Guardian and will be greatly missed.

FG editor Katie Jones: "Frank will be remembered not only as a talented young farmer but as someone who represented the very best of the next generation - committed to his family, his livestock, his land and the future of British farming."

Our thoughts are with Frank’s family, friends and everyone who knew him.
