Vesper’s been at the bar for 10 minutes and quite frankly the service is appalling.

We’re here 12–11 today and the boards have had a fair old shuffle already this week 👀

New on from Vault City Brewing x Azvex Brewing Company - Bake-Off: Cranachan. Raspberry, honey, cream and whisky barrel goodness, inspired by the Scottish dessert. Basically a boozy pudding. Lovely stuff.

THEN Azvex Brewing Company have gone and sent us Tennis Racket Theorem - a big fluffy NZ hopped IPA, all white grape, peach, lime and general deliciousness.

Plenty more changes besides. Come have a look, have a pint, have another one.

PAPERBOY IS BACK AT THE TAP. 🍺🎸

If you were in for Loop Fest back in May, chances are you caught this guy. And if you did, you’ll understand why we’ve been itching to get him back ever since.

Paperboy (Ollie Bond) joins us again this Friday, kicking things off from 7pm.

Somewhere in the realms of folk / alt-indie, bloody lovely voice, and just really, really good. He’ll be playing a mix of his own stuff alongside some covers - basically perfect Friday-night-with-a-pint material.

He went down an absolute storm last time. The Tap was rammed, the beers were flowing and it was one of those days that just worked.
So we thought… probably ought to do it again.

WYLAM. What a bloody lovely night 🍻

Our Wylam Brewery Ltd Tap Takeover kicked off last night and you lot showed up 🫶 So good to see the bar packed and so many of you working your way through the taps.

Big love to Lee from Wylam for coming down, drinking some beers with us and just generally being an absolute legend. 💙

And the beers… they’re ridiculous. 4 cask, 7 keg, plus TWO extra specials pouring in the cellar 👀

Today is dark, gloomy and very much giving sit in the pub and ignore the outside world. Luckily, we know a place.

Come hide from the rain, drown your sorrows in some outrageously good Wylam beers and get the Bank Holiday weekend started a day early.

POPPY SAYS IT’S THE WEEKEND 🐾🍺

One of our absolute favourite regulars popped in to make sure the beer list was up to scratch… and luckily, it’s looking bloody lovely as usual 👌

🏃‍♀️ SUNDAY: Tap and Can Social Run Club at 11am - a nice friendly 5k followed by a well-earned beer. Then we’re open til 8pm!

Loads of cracking beers pouring all weekend, plenty in the fridges, and hopefully a few more four-legged regulars too 🐶

We haven’t done a Tap Takeover for aaaages. So we thought we’d better make the next one a good’un…

We’ve struggled to get our hands on much Wylam recently, which makes us even more excited about this one. For one night, we’re filling the place with the stuff.

And best of all, some of the Wylam team are making the journey down from Newcastle to come and have a few with us too. We’re absolutely NOT calling it a ‘Meet the Brewer’ because, quite frankly, we hate those sorts of events with a passion 😂

They’re coming for a beer. We’re having a beer. You should come for a beer.

Say hello if you fancy it, thank them for making delicious beer, ask them something beer-geeky if that’s your thing, or just raise a glass and say cheers.

😂 WE’VE FINALLY PAINTED THE BLACKBOARDS.

Which means… you can actually read the beer list again.

To be fair, that’s no guarantee it’ll be the same by the time you get here. 😅

For anyone who doesn’t know how we do things, the top three beers stay put, but after that every keg gets replaced with something completely different when it kicks. At weekends (or when it’s properly busy) the board can change two or three times in a day.

It’s become a bit of a running joke, especially if you’re sat at the bar watching us rub beers out and squeeze new ones on every few hours. 🍻

The board’s looking an absolute cracker at the minute too.. and if you’re into big, juicy beers, that gold top Track - Devotions DIPA is absolutely outrageous. One of the best we’ve had on for a while.

‼️ RUN CLUB ON TOUR... POSTPONED

We’re absolutely gutted to have to do this, but unfortunately tomorrow’s Tap and Can Run Club on Tour has been postponed due to injury.

We know a lot of you were looking forward to it (us included!) and we’re so sorry for the late notice.

The good news is this isn’t cancelled - just postponed. We’ll be rearranging it for the end of August or sometime in September, and we’ll let everyone know as soon as we’ve got a new date sorted.

Thanks so much for bearing with us and for all the support. We can’t wait to get everyone together for it when we’re back on our feet.
