It certainly looks like a busy weekend around Shotley Marina.

The HMS Ganges 50th Anniversary events alone bring:

* A private event on Friday 5th June
* A free public open day on Saturday 6th June
* BBQ available at The Shipwreck from 10am till early evening, from £5, card only
* Craft exhibitors, local artists, classic cars, Shotley Pier displays, face painting and activities for children.
* The museum open throughout the weekend.

If you’re heading down, the main focal point is likely to be HMS Ganges Museum at Shotley Marina, with much of the activity spread around the marina and The Shipwreck area. The museum expects visitors to join the commemorations throughout the weekend.
