It's a humid one today but it's another Tuesday so we are pushing ahead with our weekly quiz night. Our resident Quiz Master Dave will be in the house from 8.30PM with those all important general knowledge questions.

For us on the bar we've got plenty of treats across our range of cask ales, keg beers and spirits and will be available until 11PM tonight.

Spirit Of The Week...

Caledonia 12 Year Old 46.0%

This Highland single malt whisky undertook a 12-year maturation in Oloroso sherry casks and was specially selected by songwriter Dougie Maclean. It is named after his famous song, "Caledonia".
On the nose, it is sweet, creamy, and honeyed, with notes of Manuka honey, hints of dried fig and date, soft sherry and a hint of oak. Meanwhile, the palate is full and rich with notes of berry fruits, honey, and buttered granary toast, followed by more sherry, caramel and toasted almonds. The finish is spicy, dry and sprinkled with a dusting of cocoa.

Our doors are open and we'll be serving all of our delicious beverages till 11pm tonight!
Here's what cans we've got in the fridge from Neepsend Brew Co (and mini kegs).

Alcis 4.2% (gluten free)
A session IPA hopped with a classic combo of Citra and Mosaic. Quenching, light, highly drinkable and bursting with notes of tropical fruit and citrus.

Titan 10.0%
Brewed to celebrate Neepsend's1000th brew. Good old fashioned, straight-up behemoth of an Imperial Stout aged on espresso, roast coffee, organic cocoa nibs and grade-A Madagascan vanilla. Savour and enjoy. (Last can!)

Nerrivik 5.8%
An American IPA triple-hopped with modern day classic varieties Citra, Mosaic and Idaho 7. Expect waves of juicy tropical fruit balanced with resinous pine and an assertive bitter finish.

Plouton 5.5%
A bold and unique hybrid style of beer, this Black IPA balances lightly roasted notes of chocolate and molasses with powerfully hop-forward flavours of citrus fruit and pine.

Hemera 4.5%
A pale ale single hopped with the mighty Citra, used in whole cone, pellet and concentrated Cryo form to showcase its wonderful flavours of juicy mango, lychee and passion fruit.

Blonde 4.0% (gluten free)
Neepsend's flagship session ale. Mellow and easy drinking pale with a dry finish. Hopped with Brewers Gold, Chinook and Cascade.

Dos Maderas
5+5 Triple Aged Rum 40.0%

Rums from Barbados and Guyana are matured in American oak casks for five years in the Caribbean, before being transported to Jerez where they are matured for a further 5 years in solera systems of Dos Cortados Palo Cortado Sherry casks and then also Don Guido Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. This rum has a heavily sherried character, with intensely fruity flavours filling the palate. Notes of molasses, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg build and mingle with spicy orange peel and cloves. The finish is rich and dark, full of chocolate and coffee flavours.

It's been a long time coming but our monthly spirit tasting nights hosted by the wonderful folks at are back kicking off in 2 weeks time with a simple introduction to Scottish whisky.

Tickets go on sale today for the first and then the day after each tasting for the next (£20 on sale at the bar).
