Everyone’s favourite GM… the one and only… drum roll please 🥁 Nath!!

Nath has been in the scene running some of the best boozers in the city since back in the day, and you’re sure to have seen him about. If you know anything about this fella you know he loves a good hearty Czech l***r (yes he was doing some research at last weeks Retigo UK Czech B**r Day 2026, obviously) or full sending it with an Imperial Stout with a nice wh**ky on the side.

If it’s a chill on the bar Nath will be playing a bit of the jazz/house geniuses Berlioz, if it’s getting a little more hectic expect to hear Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs… (you know the drill) 🙂‍↔️

If you can’t tell from the pics, this guy LOVES anything gaming and is suuuper into Magic: The Gathering or any roguelite. “Maybe I’m due another Binding of Isaac replay…” — if anyone can translate, please do.

We’re excited to announce our very first book club meet-up, ran by our good friend and book-worm Alyssa, is coming up next month! Free entry and open to anyone ‘n everyone 📖

A relaxed and welcoming environment to connect with fellow book lovers. The Old Shoe is a super accessible venue to ensure everyone can enjoy what we have to offer. All you need to do is read the book and show up!

We’ve raised and donated a solid £360 for b:friend and we couldn’t have done it without you guys, thank you 🙏

If you haven’t already seen, we teamed up with the anti-loneliness charity b:friend, n/a brewing specialists We Can Be Friends, and Orchard Square, Sheffield on We Can Be Friends/a beeOrchard Square, Sheffield

The response was incredible. At one point on release day, it was even our top-selling product! (Sure, that point only lasted for a few hours... but still impressive for an n/a b**r! 😅)

Just 72 cans were made — and 100% of the revenue, literally every cent, has been donated to the charity B:Friend to support their mission of combating loneliness and self-isolation.

That said, we still have a mere few of these cans left at The Old Shoe you haven’t got round to trying it! 🍻

Orchard Square’s rescheduled Dog Day is finally here... Saturday 17 October!

In a belated celebration of International Dog Day, we will have a donation box in the bar. We encourage you to bring down any toys, treats and goodies which will be donated to the RSPCA Sheffield Animal Centre via our supervisor and RSPCA volunteer Lila — let’s make some pooches days ❣️

Don’t have any items to donate? No worries! We’ll also be accepting cash donations on the bar!

Meanwhile, Orchard Square, Sheffield will be hosting dog friendly pop-up shops and will be joined by Support Dogs who are bringing some friendly pooches with them on the day!

Anspach & Hobday flagship London Black Nitro Porter — our most popular dark b**r — is officially gluten-free! This 4.4% ABV session-able porter is silky smooth, nutty with a roasted coffee finish (and is the perfect alternative for any Guinness enjoyer 🙂‍↔️)

This isn’t the only gluten-free option.. We aim to source gluten-free pales, sours, l***rs, stouts — you name it -/ on both draft & fridge rotation, so that everyone can enjoy what The Old Shoe has to offer!!

Everyone meet the lovely Joe, one of The Old Shoe supervisors!

You might recognise Joe from behind the bar at The Bear back in the day… While he generally loves anything strange and funky, at the end of a busy day Joe is wants a pint of whatever’s on the Czech l***r tap (especially if it’s a dreamy dark l***r)!!

You’ll often find Joe spinning something alt/indie on the decks, or some hip-hop! P.S. If you love Bombay Bicycle Club, Joe would v much appreciate if you ask him to play it in the bar 😉

When he’s not grafting behind the bar this guy will 99% of the time have his head buried in a book, and takes the title of “Resident Shakespeare Nerd” VERY seriously.
