Beyond Fear & Tribalism: Conscience in Uncertain Times is an evening of presentation and discussion with Ezra Hewing, head of education from Suffolk Mind.

In a world shaped by division, outrage and blind certainty, how do we learn to better understand ourselves — and each other?

Join us on Tuesday 16 June as we explore conscience, moral development, belonging, bias and navigating fraught relationships in increasingly polarised times.

In the spotlight is socialbar friend and neighbour, The Saxmundham Community Fridge.

Every Monday and Friday morning from 10.30 am behind the Old Bank building, the Community Fridge distributes free food near or past its "best by" date to anyone who turns up. Led by a brilliant team of volunteers, SAXCF not only fights food waste but is also a haven for those seeking community and in-person connection.

Another of the many reasons we’re proud to call Saxmundham home 🏠.

Another great book club last night.

Thoughtful discussion and debate ensued around the unreliable narrator, which cropped up once again in our analysis of "Daisy Bates in the Desert".

And, looking around the room, we’d love to bring more diverse perspectives to our discussions. Fellows, if you've been thinking about joining our book club, consider this your open invite! (Of course, women are also always welcome.)

Swipe to the end to discover next month’s book, ready for Wednesday 1 July 📚. Discussion prompts welcomed.

Calling all creatives ☎️

On the first Tuesday evening of every month — starting from June 2 — we’ll be hosting a new monthly meetup for creative professionals.

If you are an artist, musician, writer, filmmaker, photographer, performer, designer or any other kind of freelancer, we invite you to to connect and share your experience.

Together let's navigate the realities of creative work in uncertain times and build a more sustainable creative life.

Our first session explores work stress in the creative industries — from unstable income and burnout to self-promotion and creative pressure — with practical conversation and support for staying well while continuing to create.

Rebecca Lake’s ‘Vision Beyond Sight’ event at was incredibly powerful. Her journey spanned from childhood, including how differently she was perceived by others, to losing her vision as an adult and raising four kids as a single mom.

As a physiotherapist and reflexologist, Rebecca did a live demo of her holistic work onstage. Seeing how she rebuilt her career and adapted to her sight loss left a huge impact on the room.
