With our comfortable 230-seat main Auditorium and imtimate 78-seat studio, the Abbey Theatre is a great place to enjoy high quality, affordable entertainment. It is close to St Albans city centre with adjacent parking, a licensed bar and a warm, welcoming environment. The Abbey Theatre is run to professional standards by members of the Company of Ten, who have a passion for theatre. Stranded on Pluto, five researchers wait for their journey home. But Earth has stopped communicating. Their clocks fail. Their memories blur. And reality starts to unravel…

Funny, unsettling and deeply moving, X is a sci-fi story with a very human heart.

🎭 We’re looking for generous, curious actors who love collaboration, stillness and exploring the unexpected.

🎭 While the theatre has been dark… we’ve been busy getting everything ready for another fantastic season.

August may be quiet for our audiences, but behind the scenes, the Abbey Theatre has been getting a little TLC! 🔨✨

We’ve been making some big improvements to our home, including a new roof and air conditioning for the foyer and Main Auditorium. Shout out to Gurney Construction who’ve been sorting out our roof for us.

And remember, the Abbey Theatre is a charity, run almost entirely by its members. It’s their time, skills and passion that keep this place going and allow us to bring a diverse programme of theatre to the people of St Albans and beyond ❤️
