The Abbey Theatre is the home of The Company of Ten, one of the best drama groups in the country. With our comfortable 230-seat main Auditorium and imtimate 78-seat studio, the Abbey Theatre is a great place to enjoy high quality, affordable entertainment. It is close to St Albans city centre with adjacent parking, a licensed bar and a warm, welcoming environment. The Abbey Theatre is run to professional standards by members of the Company of Ten, who have a passion for theatre. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in a variety of theatrical and non-theatrical activities. The Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard are getting into formation… although whether they’re ready for action is another matter entirely. 👀

Expect muddled orders, military mishaps and plenty of laughs when Dad’s Army marches onto the Abbey Theatre stage next month.

We’ve been peeking into the rehearsal room for Dad’s Army and it’s safe to say the lads are putting in the hours… although whether Captain Mainwaring would approve is another matter! 😂

The excitement is building, the orders are being shouted, and Sunday’s matinee is ALREADY SOLD OUT! 👀👏

The Company of Ten is delighted to announce our AUDITIONS for Jane Austen’s beloved classic, adapted by the Olivier award winning playwright Jessica Swale!

Step into the world of the Dashwood sisters, where fortunes can change overnight, reputations matter, and matters of the heart are never quite straightforward. 💕

Whether you’re a seasoned performer or looking to take to the stage for the first time, we’d love to meet you!

Auditions are taking place on Sunday 25 and Thursday 29 October and Wednesday 4 November.

The Dad’s Army platoon is one soldier down, and we’re urgently looking for someone to step into the boots of our lovable, hapless, and occasionally bewildered Private Pike!

Rehearsals are in full swing for Dad’s Army… and this time, the platoon is facing a terrifying new challenge: Mum’s Army!

What could possibly go wrong when the Home Guard starts recruiting women into their ranks? Well… with Captain Mainwaring in charge, quite a lot, probably 😂

Packed with the much loved characters, catchphrases and nostalgic comedy of the classic BBC series, this stage adaptation brings Walmington-on-Sea back to life.
