Jazz at The George Gets Cosy ❤️‍🔥🎶

This November sees the return of Frances Knight and with her is newcomer to The George, Matt Miles, who reminded us of the above quote from Sir Duke.

Matt Miles hails from Australia, learning from some of the best on his travels through New York and London (we’re talking Loren Schoenberg, Jean Toussaint, Julien Siegel, Tim Garland & Dave O’Higgins) before landing down south. He is now a regular on the Kent jazz scene and runs his 8 piece composers collective ‘Work8hop’.

Frances’s projects are eclectic and diverse, ranging from jazz and blues through to improvised music and Argentinian Tango.

She is a prolific songwriter who has been awarded the European Musicians Federation songwriting prize.

On her own record label, Mandevellie Records, she’s had tracks played on the BBC, Jazz FM and abroad.

We can’t wait to welcome them both and all of you.

A day exploring Rye Harbour and beyond.

Did you know that access to Rye’s harbour is dictated by the tide?

In fact, boats can generally only enter or leave during a brief two-hour window on either side of high water...
.due to centuries of shifting coastlines and river silting.

Don’t worry if you miss the harbour at high tide as Camber Sands is not far away, where the English Channel meets a vast stretch of sand eventually rising in a bank of romantic dunes.

♥️ ‘Jazz at the George’ gets cosy on Sunday 18 October, 3-5pm ♠️

The lovely Nils Solberg returns. This time with Charlotte Glasson.

Charlotte is a multi-instrumentalist who has played with some of the greats, from Nick Cave and Oasis to The Divine Comedy and Camille O-Sullivan.

Nils Solberg is a guitarist and vocalist who has played with the likes of Bryan Ferry, Nigel Kennedy and Ralph McTell.

We can’t wait for you to hear these virtuoso players do their thing in the Dragon Bar.

The event is free and there is no reserved seating, so arrive early to bag a spot!
