Located in the centre of Rye, East Sussex, the hotel was recently renovated to create one of the most stunning hideaways on the south coast. The building dates from 1575 and has enviable heritage; it even has an original Georgian ballroom used for lavish weddings and banquets. An eclectic and contemporary design has been given to this historic fabric using a wide range of antique and modern furnit

ure, materials and local art. The result is a comfortable blend of old and new, creating an atmosphere which is relaxed, informal and individual. A medieval townscape locked in time and with a fascinating history, it offers a great escape for relaxation or romance. “I didn’t think I liked yellow until I stayed at The George in Rye and wow what a revelation! ... 💛 we had a lovely stay in Rye with family, eating until our heart’s were content...mooching round the shops and walking down to the sea for some fresh air 🌊 would recommend - delicious food, lovely staff, Verden products in the bathrooms, good sheets and beautiful decor (I want to steal those tiles from the bathroom and now I’m wondering what I can paint yellow!).”

Carpe Cocktail?

aka Seize the Cocktails!

Things are cooling down significantly next week, soooo..

Take time to enjoy delicious, refreshing drinks in the courtyard while you can.

Shoutout to our sizzling bar team for keeping those drinks flowing in the incredible heat.

And for their creativity.

Cocktails featured are as follows...

Peach Mule –
Vodka base, homemade Peach purée, fresh Lime, topped with spicy Ginger Beer for a bright, sunny twist on the classic mule.

Watermelon Daiquiri –
Sun-ripened fresh watermelon meets vanilla-forward aged white rum and pure sugar cane. Finished with a hint of fresh lime juice.
A perfectly balanced sip.

Coco-Cabana –
An exotic twist on the Brazilian classic: fresh mango and zesty lime shaken with premium Cachaça, finished with a creamy dash of coconut milk for a velvety, tropical finish.

🌞 Jazz at The George in June 🌞
.say that after a Gin & Tonic or two..

Frances Knight and Jerome Davies return on keyboard and bass.

Frances’s projects are eclectic and diverse, ranging from jazz and blues through to improvised music and Argentinian Tango

She is a prolific songwriter who has been awarded the European Musicians Federation songwriting prize.

On her own record label, Mandevellie Records, she’s had tracks played on the BBC, Jazz FM and abroad.

Jerome Davies has played with Salena Jones, Ronnie Scott’s Big Band, Gerry Colvin Band, Clare Teal, Kathleen Turner, Imelda May, Will Todd, The Jazz Repertory Company, Roderick Williams, the Westminster Philharmonic and the National Screen Orchestra to name but a few.

This is a F R E E event - there is no reserved seating so get there early to bag a spot!

If it’s wam we’ll be in the courtyard.
If not, in the Dragon Bar.

We can’t wait to welcome you all for a lazy Sunday afternoon of jazz. See you there!
