The Ypres Castle Inn and its big, green garden are open for drinks four days a week: 12-10pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 12-8pm on Sundays (we also open on Bank Holiday Mondays).

The focus here is on great beer – cask and keg – from independent producers. The tap list changes all the time, and will be different every time you visit.

Our favourite breweries are the likes of Floc, Beak, Burning Sky, Verdant and Kernel. Ciders are from Nightingale. Lager is from Rothaus in Germany’s Black Forest, Brauerei Maisel in Bavaria and Budvar, the national brewery of the Czech Republic. There’s a range of no- and low- alcohol beers in bottles and cans too.

We keep a compact wine list, but change it all the time, sticking to low-intervention and organic wines.

We serve local gin from Pleasant Lands Distillery, just across the border in Kent.

To accompany these great drinks, there are local cheeses, handmade pork pies and superior bar snacks. We don’t operate a kitchen, so there’s no hot food.

We’re known for our big, green garden and cosy interior, warmed by a log fire in the colder months. Although the decor is otherwise traditional, we are proud to display contemporary works by local artists on our walls.

We don’t take bookings: just turn up, get a drink from the bar, and relax. The pub is not available for private hire or events of any kind.

The Ypres - or more specifically, our garden - is featured in this week's Time Out, named as one of five beautiful beer gardens in the UK. It's particularly exciting to be mentioned in the same breath as Oxford's legendary Trout!

Get a load of these alfresco-boozing stunners.
