With Dale Miles and Michael Hope already qualified for Finals Night, George Reeves, Dave Fernandez, Mason Coles & Ollie Lowe battled it out for the remaining two spots. ๐ฑ
The night got underway with George taking on Ollie. In a scrappy match, George missed simple chances in the second and third frames as he surrendered a 1-0 lead, handing Ollie the perfect start to the night. ๐
Next up was the all-Kent clash between Mason Coles and Dave Fernandez.
Dave looked to be heading for a 2-0 lead, but missed the final ball. From there, it was the Mason Coles show, as he produced three very good clearances to pinch the win. ๐ฅ
Arguably the two group favourites were now set to meet in the loser vs loser matchup.
Whoever lost would be all but eliminated, while a draw would keep both playersโ hopes alive. ๐ฌ
Dave dished the first frame before George fought back to lead 2-1.
In the fourth frame, George had a tricky shot down the rail to put himself in a commanding position.
It hung. Agonisingly. ๐ฑ
Dave potted an excellent first ball before going on to clear up and break-dish again to earn the win. ๐ฅ
The next match was nervy, with both Ollie and Mason understanding the importance of getting a result. In the end, it was the more experienced Ollie who managed to claim a buzzer be**er victory. โฑ๏ธ
Mason bounced back quickly from the disappointment to defeat a resilient George Reeves 4-2 in a match that could have gone either way. ๐ช
Heading into the final match, anything but a win for Dave would see Ollie and Mason through.
Dave started with a dish. Ollie looked like he might reply with one of his own, but a careless positional shot cost him.
That was to be his last shot of the match.
Dave would go on to dish again, before producing a golden break to take us to our very first three-way shootout. ๐จ
Mason won the lag and opted to go second, while Dave chose to go last.
Setting the time to beat, Ollie set a decent target of 30.61 seconds. โก
Mason got 36.63.
Dave had a bad split, but his shootout experience showed and he didnโt panic. Instead, he recovered brilliantly to take top spot with a time of 25.72 seconds. ๐
And just like that, a night full of twists, turns and three dramatic shootouts had finally delivered our Finals Night lineup. ๐คฏ
Michael Hope. Dale Miles. Ollie Lowe. Dave Fernandez. ๐ฑ
Four players remain. One champion will be crowned. ๐
Join us next Thursday for Finals Night, as Michael Hope takes on Ollie Lowe, while Dale Miles faces Dave Fernandez โ both matches played over a best-of-two-sets format. ๐ฅ
After everything weโve seen so far, expect more drama, more surprises and, ultimately, a champion of the inaugural Spots & Stripes Champions League. ๐
