Kez Carey has been drinking in the Stanley for fifty years, and he had the first pint when we reopened on 17 July. 🍺

That was more than a hundred days ago now. If you have been in at any point since, for the football, the quiz, the music or just a quiet pint, would you tell people what you thought on Google?

It takes a minute, right here:

Good, bad or somewhere in between, we read every one. Thank you. It makes more difference to a little local like ours than you would think.

Today marks our final edition of Install Thursday (for now) — and we’ve wrapped up the full cellar refresh.

All b**r lines, pumps and taps have been replaced, and we’ve welcomed some cracking additions: Carling, Inch’s, Greene King IPA, Old Speckled Hen, and now Heineken Zero on draught to sit alongside our other zero options.

And for a bit of extra convenience, the pool table now takes card/contactless as well as coins — ideal for match nights and weekends.

Thanks to everyone who’s followed the upgrades. The drinks are pouring beautifully and we’re ready for the winter season with our new boiler and radiators

Every team at tonight’s quiz needs a name before it needs an answer, because the winners get theirs on a trophy.

Our second ever quiz night is this tonight at half seven, and it is old school. No phones. No apps. No cheating. Pens, paper, drinks and bragging rights.

Winners take half the entry fees as a bar tab, get their team name on the Winners Trophy, and that trophy sits behind the bar until the next quiz.

Runners up get a snack pack and a small prosecco. Lowest score takes the Wooden Spoon, which is its own kind of fame.

Remember it runs fortnightly from here, so whatever you call yourselves on Sunday, you are stuck with it.

So, what is your team called? Put it below. The worse the pun, the better.

Three months into reopening, we continue to invest in improvements across The Stanley Arms.

This week, all b**r lines and taps are being fully replaced, alongside scheduled cellar maintenance, to ensure the highest standard of quality and consistency. As a result, the pub will be closed this evening, reopening as normal tomorrow.

Additional works will take place throughout the week, including installation of a new boiler system and upgraded radiators to improve comfort as temperatures drop. These works will be completed prior to opening each day, and no changes to our operating hours are expected.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to enhance the pub for everyone.
