Phoenix Bar Portishead The Phoenix bar - Opened since 1991 The Phoenix Bar has been open since 1991. This was opened by Mon & Tony and first started off as a restaurant. FREE WIFI.

The bar is now ran by Dawn & Mon. With 9 members of staff. There is a pub garden with a smoking area. Pub garden 'Sun trap' perfect for summer days and evenings. We have two TV's, we do not have Sky.

👑 FOUR QUEENS, ONE FAMILY 👑

As we begin our countdown to Portishead Carnival we thought we'd share a little piece of our family's carnival history.

Carnival has been part of our family for generations, and we're incredibly proud that four ladies from the same family have been crowned Portishead Carnival Queen:

👑 Monica – 1952
👑 Dawn – 1977
👑 Gaye – 1978
👑 Tam – 2025 🤰👑

Before becoming Queen, both Gaye and Dawn also represented the carnival as Princesses:

✨ Gaye – Princess 1973
✨ Dawn – Princess 1976

Many of you will know these names well from The Phoenix, where Monica and Dawn are the landladies. Monica is mum to Dawn and Gaye, and grandmother to Tam.

And Tam's year was certainly one to remember — she took on the role of Carnival Queen while heavily pregnant! ❤️

From mother to daughters and now granddaughter, Portishead Carnival has been a huge part of our family's story for over 70 years, and we're so proud to have been part of this wonderful tradition.

👑🎉 PORTISHEAD CARNIVAL IS JUST ONE WEEK AWAY! 🎉👑

Saturday 13th is set to be a fantastic day for all 🎉

Watch the colourful carnival floats make their way along the High Street before heading onto the field for even more fun, entertainment, and activities. Then the celebrations return to the High Street to keep the party going! 🎭🎶

At The Phoenix, we won't be entering a float this year, but carnival has always been a huge part of our family history. 👑

From now until Carnival Day, we'll be sharing memories, photos, and stories from some of our past floats and our family's carnival journey through the years. We can't wait to look back at some amazing moments with you all!

And when the carnival is in full swing, join us at The Phoenix Bar for live music from the fantastic Stacey Charles. 🍻🎤
