“Had an absolutely amazing stay… From beginning to end the service from all the staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive — especially to our dog too. We stayed in one of the Stable cottages, beautifully decorated and very spacious, with a huge private garden and access to lovely river walks. We will definitely be back — 5 stars all round.” ⭐️

Gone Fishing fans (and some of our October regulars!) may remember this lovely scene… 🎣
Bob Mortimer arranging for our wonderful friend Pipe Major Ian Duncan to pipe Paul Whitehouse into Meikleour for their Hogmanay ceremony, filmed right here in our lounge.

Well, this year we thought we’d replay a little of that Gone Fishing magic for our own Hogmanay guests.

On 31st December, we’ll serve our normal seasonal menu until 6pm. Then, from 8.30pm, our resident guests will be piped in by Ian for our special Hogmanay dinner.

Later, from 11.30pm to 12.30am, William and Sophie of Reel Laldy will take us through to the bells with some gentle Scottish country music — and perhaps a little dancing and a dram along the way. 🥃

We have a limited number of hotel rooms and Stables cottages still available, so if you fancy seeing in 2027 with us in Perthshire, give us a call.

Autumn brings its own particular magic to the estate — beautiful colours, long walks, seasonal food, fires lit and plenty of reasons to pull on your boots and head outside.

Explore Perthshire, play a round of golf, wander down to the Tay, disappear into the woods in search of mushrooms, then come home to the comfort of the Arms or one of our cottages.

🎄 The Festive Season at Meikleour 🎄

December is nearly upon us, and we’re looking forward to fires lit, tables full, a little sparkle and plenty of good food and good cheer.

Our Festive Programme 2026 will be live on our website next week, but bookings are already open — so here is a little preview of what’s happening at Meikleour this Christmas.

🥂 Christmas Parties | 4–24 December
Gather friends, family or colleagues for our December Festive Menu. From small tables to larger celebrations of up to 32 guests.

🎄 Christmas Day
A proper Meikleour Christmas, with a five-course festive lunch and all the trimmings. We have a limited number of tables available for non-residents, so please don’t leave it too long. A few of our cottages and a limited number of hotel rooms are also still available for a Christmas stay.

🥃 Hogmanay at Meikleour
See out the old year with a special Hogmanay dinner, a little Scottish live music, pipers, wh**ky and plenty of good cheer as midnight approaches. We still have some cottages and a limited number of hotel rooms available for Hogmanay, and non-residents are very welcome to contact us about dinner availability too.

🎣 A special September opportunity on the Tay

Very regrettably, one of our regular guests has had to cancel, which means we now have a boat available for up to two rods on Friday 11th September, fishing with our wonderful Head Ghillie, Calum.

September is a magical time on the Tay, and this is a wonderful opportunity to experience salmon fishing at Meikleour — whether you are an experienced angler or picking up a salmon rod for the first time.

And why not make a little escape of it with our signature Sleep • Eat • Fish experience? Stay in one of our beautiful two-bedroom Stables cottages on Thursday and Friday, enjoy breakfast and dinner at the Meikleour Arms, and spend Friday immersed in the magic of the River.

🍂 Autumn in Perthshire

October is a rather good time to disappear to the countryside.

The forest is turning, the days are still made for long walks and Perthshire is at its autumn best. Bring the golf clubs, explore the surrounding countryside, or simply wrap up and head out with nowhere particular to be.

Then home to Meikleour for muddy boots by the door, a log fire, a good dinner and a very comfortable bed.

From 18th October, our autumn rates begin — another good reason to stay a little longer.

Our four-bedroom self-catering Farmhouse sits amongst the fields between Meikleour’s North Wood and Stormont Loch, with Blairgowrie Golf Club just a stone’s throw away.

Spacious, relaxed and wonderfully convivial, with a big open-plan kitchen and dining room made for gathering together — and a little Meikleour whimsy overhead with John Derian’s wonderful swallow ceiling.

The best of both worlds at the Stables 🌿

Our serviced cottages come with their own little kitchen — perfect for a post-adventure cup of tea, a quick lunch between casts on the Tay or a midnight feast.

Playful, elegant and gloriously green — with almost 300 years of history at the garden door. 🌿

Step into the garden and you pass beneath an extraordinary stone portico bearing the monogram of Robert and Jean Nairne, staunch Jacobites, and the date 1734 — the very year Rob Roy MacGregor died.

Nearly three centuries later, it is still part of everyday life here.
