The Admiral Benbow is one of Cornwall's most extraordinary pubs. Originally serving as an illegal drinking den and smugglers hideout., it retains the original smuggling tunnels, used to run contraband from the quayside straight to the pub's cellar. The free house is known for its long connections to the local community and its famous club nights. Inside, rests one of the largest private collection

s of nautical memorabilia in the West Cornwall comprising a number of ships figureheads, over a dozen ship's anchors and a collection of life rings from shipwrecks that foundered on the Cornish shores over the years. We serve a full menu from 6 to 9:30 and have a bar stocked with the finest beers, wines and spirits. We serve a wide selection of lagers, ales and ciders in bottles and on draught. We have a small winelist of excellent and well priced wines from aorund the world. Worth explorting is our extensive collection of over forty Rums and Gins. Our classic menu highlights the best of local produce from the sea and the land, including vegetarian or vegan options. Dietary restrictions can be catered for if notice is given (gluten free, nut allergies etc). We are open 5 nights a week for drinks between 17:00 to 23:00 with food available between 18:00 and 21:30.

UPDATE: MY RESPONSE IS UP NOW
For those of you that like this sort of thing, I have posted a response to a one star review in Trip Advisor from a lady who was clearly upset. It was written by Beverlyclaire74 - a seasoned contributor/ troll with 1 review and an account only created this month. We try very hard to behave professionally and courteously. On balance I am happy that we treat everybody well. I will not apologise however to bullies and trolls when there's no reason or basis for the complaint. Gull news; sadly, it seems Wes never made it . His siblings hatched at the weekend a day apart and we were hoping he would follow. This afternoon I noticed a half broken shell with his little body inside. RIP Wes. On the bright side, with only two chicks to feed Andy and Angela will stand a better chance of making it through the difficult first few weeks on this planet.

This week’s beer is Frűh Radler, a German take on a shandy but with real fruit juice! Crisp Kölsch lager mixed with lemonade ( made with actual lemons!) very refreshing and only 2.2% abv and only £5!!
