The Captains Wife Country pub, serving great food, drink & ales. With views over the Bristol Channel and Sully Island

The Captain's Wife was originally Sully House, a house originally owned by a captain. Legend has it that when his wife died, her body was kept in a box that was mistaken for treasure and stolen. A small fleet of fishing vessels were located at Swanbridge harbour and it is likely that that the row of cottages, that became the pub, were later the traditional homes of the local fishermen and their families. A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Something very exciting has arrived at The Captain’s Wife… 🐾📚

We’re teaming up with Macmillan Children’s Books to celebrate the latest addition to the much loved Gruffalo collection The Gruffalo Granny🌳✨

From 1st September, little visitors can enjoy our special Gruffalo themed children’s menu with activities and fun along the way! 🐻‍❄️📖

And that’s not all… 👀
We’ll also be giving children the chance to get involved in a special Gruffalo competition with some fantastic prizes up for grabs! Keep an eye out for more information 🎉
