Looking for a regular table for your game night?

Anchor’s Rest in Paignton already hosts a chess club, and we want more of the same energy: people who sit down, play, and make a night of it.

If you run (or want to start) a group for backgammon, cards, board games, or similar table games, we’d like you here as a regular fixture.

You’ll get a proper local bar that works as a community hub, space for a weekly or monthly meet, and a room that feels like your group’s home rather than a one-off hire.

Heads up, football fans! This Wednesday Anchor’s Rest will be closing early at 7pm so our staff can actually watch the England World Cup game instead of just hearing your goal celebrations from behind the bar and questioning the ref’s eyesight from a distance.

Come in a bit earlier to stock up on your pre‑match pints and good vibes, then head home to shout at the TV with the rest of us. Thanks for understanding – we’ll be back to normal hours once we’ve recovered from the emotional rollercoaster!

Come and join us for Torbay Chess at Paignton Harbour – a friendly, relaxed weekly meet-up for anyone who enjoys a game of chess (or wants to learn).

• All ages and all skill levels welcome – from complete beginners to experienced players
• Bring your own board if you have one, but we’ll have some available too
