𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠!🍴

We’re looking for both a 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 and a 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 chef to run the kitchen here at the Blue Lion to cover lunch times and evenings.

𝐀 𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐮𝐬:

We’re a family-run pub in the heart of Lewdown, a small village on the Devon/Cornwall border. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming local with great food and a friendly atmosphere.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫:

- Someone with the enthusiasm and creativity to take the kitchen under their wing.

- Confident in creating their own menus and regularly updating the specials board.

- Clean, organised, and committed to maintaining high kitchen hygiene standards, including end-of-shift cleaning and deep cleans during quieter periods.

- Comfortable managing kitchen stock and placing regular orders.

- Friendly, easy-going, and able to work well as part of a small team.

📣 PUBS ARE SO EXPENSIVE: PART 2! 📣

Following on from yesterday’s post!

A number of people still queried “why pubs are so expensive”…

And a follower, Kyle Michael, has kindly allowed me to share his post below to explain things a little more!

So here goes…

🤔 What is so hard for some to understand?

🤷‍♂️ Pubs are NOT expensive, the perception of cost is being distorted by the lack of disposable income, not the price!

🏛️ Blame that on government, not the publican who has cut and cut and cut his profit to keep going!

⚖️ Let’s compare beer prices to wages!

Prices used below are the average in April each year, together with the minimum wage at the same time.

👌 Time to adjust your minds and expectations and keep things real, or you simply won't have any pubs left.
