The Lincolnshire Poacher has been part of Nottingham’s real ale drinking scene for so long that it’s easy to forget that it only opened in the late 1980′s, rising from the shell of the Old Grey Nags Head which had been closed by Shipstones. In partnership with Wainfleet brewers, George Bateman & Sons Ltd, the ‘Poacher’ quickly earned a reputation as one of THE places in Nottingham for quality and

choice of ale, a distinction it has never lost. Alongside its excellent reputation for ale, the Lincolnshire Poacher is also part of a small group of Castle Rock pubs aiming to provide you with a dynamic and enlightening world beer experience, as part of our “Discover World Beers” initiative. The large public bar is complemented by a large outside high walled beer garden.

Chakra Shakers’ Side Hustle

Chakra Shakers are a DIY International touring Rock’n’Roll garage punk band. Formed in Portugal and now residing in Nottingham, they have toured 11 countries and have released 3 eps on Waayunderground.bandcamp.com.

The Side Hustle is exactly that. A way to play pubs beyond the limited scope of the punk scene. The concept is relatively loose. Sometimes acoustic, sometimes electric, with a mix of covers ranging from Merle Haggard to Iggy Pop. But the goal is always the same - to bring a fun, vibrant, energetic show every time.

Making his return after a long saga of lost phone numbers...Colin Staples!

‘If you are a fan of the blues, you have probably at some point come across the name Colin Staples - he is synonymous with Blues in Nottingham. A great band leader, singer, harmonica and guitar player.’

Bunker Hill Band:

(From the Band) We specialise in what I would call Cool American....particularly JJ Cale and others of that ilk, Dylan, Steve Earle......as well as cool British bands like Traffic and Dire Straits. The band consists of Maz Mitrenko, lead guitar and vocals. Maz is very popular in Brum and recently moved to the East Midlands; Dave Stephenson, lead guitar and vocals; John Hemmingway, bass and Chris Hewitt on drums. Dave and John are well known at the Poacher, as part of the popular Nottingham band, Borderline. If you need a taste of what we do, you could visit our page and catch some of our videos.

Fun Fact Friday...

Did you know that Robert Stubley who designed and built the Sneinton Dragon, is none other than our very own barman Alfie's Grandfather?!

Creativity clearly runs in the family as Alfie is a keen painter and plays in local band 'Drury Hill'...go check em out!

Believe it or not, when Nottingham residents were asked what piece of public art they wanted for Sneinton, they chose a dragon.

The Sneinton Dragon was created by local craftsman Robert Stubley and unveiled on 21 November 2006, commissioned by Nottingham City Council as part of an urban regeneration project. Standing 7 feet tall with a 15-foot wingspan, it’s perched atop a metal pole on the corner of Sneinton Hermitage - positioned high enough to be seen by both drivers and pedestrians.

Have you ever come across the Sneinton Dragon, or is this the first time you’ve seen it? 👀
