It's Tuesday dontcherknow, and that means it's Quiz Time from 8pm (ish).

Monsieur Grumbles le propriétaire de canards will be in session, and the specials round subject is...*drumroll*...UK Motorways! (We don't know either).

Not only that, but on top of the usual array of top notch Ales, Ciders, Rums and more on offer, we also have the best pint of Bass in Bridge Street ready and waiting for you to enjoy!

So rogue AI bots are apparently poised to take over the interweb, and we're all doomed!
Here at the Ale House, the 'marketing department', (I use that term very loosely!) much prefers the use of really bad photoshop to AI, as you can see from their recent output!
Coming up this week, in no particular order, we're looking forward to sampling the Marmalade Porter, and the Millie George.
In the zider fridge we have 9 different varieties, so you'll be spoilt for choice.
We have rums aplenty, including the delectable flavoured rums by our friends at Villains.
Decaff is attending to the bar this afternoon, and tonight Haydn is hosting the Irish folk folks from around 8pm. Tomorrow evening we have Monsieur Grùme's Gallic queeeeze, avec le specialist round this week devoted to all things to do with UK motorways.

Last weekend I was in Filey North Yorkshire for my dad's 80th b'day BBQ. Yes, he's in better 'nick' than me, before you start!
Before I left, I called into the most excellent remote Wold Top Brewey for a few tins of beer. I met Steve the brewer. Top bloke. They don't deliver here. So, over the next few weeks there will be a few of their beers on. Right now, it's their Session IPA at 4.2%. I'm looking forward to the Marmalade Porter. Watch this space for when their on.

When I buy beer I try and deal directly with breweries. Sometimes I use a distributor that has access to beers from all over the country. I saw Youngs Special on a list. I had to get it!
I used to work for Youngs. And in 1995 I passed my Cellar Management training at the Ram Brewery in Wandsworth. They actually had a ram called Rameses IV. I don't think he actually brewed anything. Once a year every pub on their estate had the dray (beer delivery) with shire horses. They were scarily BIG! I have some great memories from then.
So, on line 5 today is Youngs Special 4.5% best bitter. I'll be reminiscing over a few of these tonight. Please join me.

So, it's the Newcastle-under-Lyme BID 's yearly pub and town celebratory town centre awards thing. Yes, there are lots of moans about town centers these days. But, there are great businesses in this town and we need to celebrate them. Just to make the final 5 is beyond awesome!
As for the picture? Yeah, I'm not really sure what was going on here. I was obviously having a "special Grum moment". These are frequent. I'll self medicate with a pint. Again.

So our leader has gone AWOL on yet another extended weekend jolly, and the staff have been left to their own devices!
Have we been up to mischief? Of course we have! Because Sebidee is still broken, we had to get Spoony back to play on the bar on Saturday. Mojo is plotting to order 5 casks of mild, one for each line, and Decaff is hoping she can rectify any smoke damage before Uncle Grumbles triumphal return on Tuesday!
Don't forget that our lovely Irish folk folks are playing this evening from 8, and we're looking forward Grum's quiz tomorrow night, assuming he has had time to write it! 🤣This week's specialist round is on Fallout ☢️

Calling all people (and anyone else). It is a Saturday night and we have this amazing lineup. What we don’t have is you!!
I’ve been hoisted from the cellar and dusted off to jump on the bar whilst the bossman is in York and the little Seb is recovering from a fight with some steps. It’s still my first shift so I have no clue what I’m doing, please come down and tell me how to do this job.

Just so some semblance of normality is maintained we have the brilliant Haydn on to make sure it doesn’t get too chaotic (I’m sure we can try though)

Ah, September. The season of mellow fruitfulness, or something like that! Strange things are afoot at the Ale House.. it's Tuesday, and Decaff is playing on the bar this afternoon 😱🍺
It's been an eventful week, we've enjoyed a beerful bank holiday, been part of the Jazz and Blues Festival, and much Farmer Jimbo's Apple Red Zider has been supped! 🍎
In an entirely unrelated incident, one of our staff has taken a nose dive down some stairs, & broken his toe! 🦶 🦴 Apparently I made breaking something sound such fun, that he thought he'd give it a go! 🤣😭
We've got Shameless, Bramble Stout, & DDD zider. The sun's out, the beer garden is OPEN, and of course we'll be quizzing later, with your favourite cheery landlord! Mojo and Mollie will be looking after you on the bar tonight, & tonight's specialist round is on Vietnam aircraft.
Normal service will be resumed next week, I think..! 🤔🍺
