one thing we’ve noticed over the last few months is just how many people are recommending our sunday lunches to friends and family 🍽️

we’ve had guests travel back to visit again, families making it their regular sunday spot and reviews describing it as “the best sunday roast we’ve had in a very long time.”

for a village pub, that kind of word of mouth means everything.

on sunday 21st june we’ll be serving our special smokehouse menu alongside our sunday roasts, so whether dad’s more into bourbon glazed ribs or a proper roast dinner, there’s plenty on the menu for him.

expect slow smoked brisket, pork belly burnt ends, loaded fries, sharing boards and plenty of smoky flavours coming out of the kitchen.

and for the traditionalists, our roast dinners will still be available too.

from 11th june, we’ll be showing the fifa world cup 2026 live on our big screen alongside our tapas menu, making the perfect excuse for an evening at the pub with friends.

then on sunday 14th june, speedquizzing returns to the kings head. no pens, no paper, no cheating, just quick thinking, good company and the chance to win the pot. quiz teams can now book their table via the link below.

what a month may has been ☀️

if there was one highlight, it has to be our spring garden party.

seeing the garden full, the bbq busy, the drinks flowing and so many people coming together to enjoy the bank holiday was exactly what we hoped for. the support from our community was incredible and we’re still talking about it a week later.

alongside the garden party, we’ve launched our new tapas menu, enjoyed some fantastic weather, welcomed plenty of familiar faces through the doors and hosted another successful quiz night.

a huge thank you to everyone who has visited us throughout the month, whether it was for a quick drink, sunday lunch, an event or an afternoon in the sunshine.

this village never fails to support its local pub and we’re incredibly grateful for it.

here’s to more sunny days, great food and good company in june.
