🎶 WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK 🎶

What a weekend! Jazz House Party lived up to their name on Saturday night – and staying up past our bedtimes for the football was well worth it for such great vibes. We’ve got swinging string-led stories on Wednesday before Scotland’s World Cup campaign continues on Friday, plus a Father's Day special and a return of the Blaze Bros as Sunday Session hosts – full deets below...

: Myshkin’s Ruby Warblers make a stop on their Hot Night in Paris tour on Wednesday night. Expect thoughtful original songs that swing and pulse with a fiery string-band energy, drawing on early jazz, freak folk and nomad soul. Myshkin writes eloquently about work, love, struggle and change from a fiercely egalitarian perspective. Performing with multi-instrumentalist Jenny Q, the Ruby Warblers consistently deliver fresh, challenging and moving music.

Friday night: it's Scotland v Morocco at 11pm and we are – of course – staying open for the duration. Why not book a table for dinner and join us for the buzz and build-up to another exciting game?

Sunday: for the father figure in your life that deserves some love, we’ve got... ADD DETAILS PLEASE

Stick around for the evening as The Blaze Bros are on hosting duty for the open mic. The sharply dressed acoustic trio play covers in their own “fire” style – they’ll be opening up proceedings from 6.30pm. If you fancy a slot, come down early and add your name to the board – a warm welcome and fully managed sound await.

We’ll see you very soon!

⚽ WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK ⚽

Great music from Bandstand faves Dougie Burns and DWR plus Jazz House Party, not to mention the first game of Scotland’s World Cup campaign – we can't wait to show our support! We'll also be dropping more details in the coming days for the much-anticipated FragzFest 2026 – it's back at the end of the month and set to be the biggest and best yet, so stay tuned.

: Blues and country singer-songwriter Dougie Burns returns this Wednesday for an acoustic appearance at 8pm. The leader of the Cadillac band, who’s toured the UK extensively, appeared on US TV series “Have Guitar Will Travel World” and hosts the weekly show “On The Level” for Highland Hospital Radio, will treat us to a laidback performance with a stripped-down “Cadillac Sidecar” line-up, including Sye Murray (lead/slide guitar), Ewan Dale (harmonica) and Dave McIntosh (percussion).

We were gutted to hear the tragic news of the loss of Bertha!

However, we are delighted to support these hardworking lads in making their very hard earned dreams of success come true. So long as they continue to support the Bandstand Bar & Restaurant with a gig now and again of course.

They've brought our stage to life so many times and individually the band members have worked incredibly hard in support of us, so we're delighted to support them with a donation of £300 towards Bertha 2.

Good luck guys!!

THIS SATURDAY....

We're delighted to confirm new Highland Bluegrass band will be taking to the stage this Saturday evening 6th June at 9pm.

Introducing the band...

The Banjo Player

Mark “Two-Thumbs” Nolan learned banjo the traditional way: by annoying his neighbours until they moved away. Known for playing at unsafe speeds and insisting every song “needs more banjo.” Holds the regional record for most strings broken during a single instrumental break.

The Fiddle Player

Alastair “Screech” Chisholm began fiddling at age five after being mistaken for a fire alarm. He claims his tone is “authentic Appalachian,” though several dogs have filed complaints. Specialises in tunes that sound like they’re chasing you.

The Mandolin Player

Chris “The Chop” Giubarelli is known for his aggressive mandolin chopping, which has been classified as light percussion in three counties. Once got banned from a jam session for chopping too hard during a lullaby.

The Bass Player

Steve “Big Stick” Macdonald plays bass like he’s wrestling a wardrobe. The only band member strong enough to carry the PA system and everyone’s emotional baggage. Has never smiled on stage but claims it’s “just concentration.”

The Guitar Player

Maryann “Shiraz” Frew has a rhythm guitar style which has been used by manufacturers to calibrate metronomes. She sings with the heartbreak of someone who’s been left at the altar, the station, and the Tesco self-checkout. She insists every song is about “true love” but refuses to name which one.

The Harmony Singer

“Cousin” Simon Grey joined the band after turning up to the wrong rehearsal and refusing to leave. His harmonies are so tight they’ve been used to seal Tupperware. Nobody is actually sure if he’s anyone’s cousin.

WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK

These nights just keep getting better – we can never resist a Bandstand sunset! We really felt the funk from Fever Check on Saturday and our continues to amaze with new faces and a full house enjoying incredible talent from near and far. There's more great stuff on the way...

: this Wednesday we're delighted to have Danny Mortimer on stage. This singer/songwriter/guitarist has been grabbing attention since bursting onto the scene in 2015. He’s played at some of the county’s best venues and festivals, including the O2 ABC and Belladrum, and is currently recording his fourth solo album. With his brand of melodic guitar-based rock, Danny’s passion shines through every single time he steps up to the microphone. Music from 8pm.

Saturday: TBC – we're crossing the I's and dotting the T's on Saturday's live act. Stay tuned!

: Mike Breen returns as host for this week's open mic. He says: "I was a choir boy who wanted to be Axl Rose but then grunge came along..." The result? Powerful, raw and emotional vocals from a truly arresting performer. Tunes from 6.30pm – get down early, sign up and show us what you've got!

WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK

We hope you had as good a long weekend as we did! We're pleased to announce that last Thursday's Big Pub Singalong, spearheaded by Fiona Sellar and The Broads, raised £1296.10 for the Liam Finnerty Charitable Trust. Thanks so much to all who came, played, sang and donated towards this brilliant fundraising total. Here's this week's bill...

: this Wednesday features Alistair Cossar, an Inverness-based acoustic singer and fledgling songwriter. He's known for beautifully emotive and often lesser-known covers across indie, alt-folk, rock and pop, delivered in a heartfelt, stripped-back style. Support from Jo Turner, music from 8pm.

Saturday: It's party time as Fever Check take the Bandstand stage at 9pm. Formed just last year but already recommended as one to watch, they'll hit you with infectious beats, killer hooks and downright dirty riffs from all genres and eras. The band’s frontwoman brings attitude and standout vocals – you may even recognise her from the new Channel Four show Your Song.

: Dave Levon returns to host our open mic from 6.30pm, bringing his usual energy and decades of experience as the soundtrack to all celebrations across Scotland. We can't get enough of all the new performers taking part each week – maybe this Sunday could be the first for you?

See you soon, folks!
