Harvest may be wrapping up in the vineyard, but it’s full steam ahead in w**eries across the UK.
At Westwell, it was a “remarkable, exhausting harvest” following an “exceptionally warm, dry season” that brought picking forward by several weeks and delivered their “biggest crop to date by a considerable margin”. Despite the relentless pace, the fruit has been “healthy, ripe and full of flavour”, creating exciting opportunities in the w**ery, including five pét-nats, fresh juicy reds and the return of favourite varieties.
At Mereworth, W**emaker Scott Grebbie commented on the early harvest and reported that there has been “less malolactic than usual”.
At Three Choirs, the w**ery is still buzzing as “the last of the reds came in last week”, with “excellent quality fruit coming in” and “every tank full in the w**ery!”
And for Biddenden it was “the earliest start date on record at Biddenden, and a harvest spanning 9 weeks in total, it’s certainly been a very exciting year. The balance between ripeness, sugar levels and acids has been spot on and we are really excited to share what this vintage has to offer.”
