A new, bigger, central London venue at Old Billingsgate meant more room for more producers, more w**es and our largest number of attendees yet!

Here are 5 top tips on how to approach 350+ w**es without losing your palate. 

1. Start with sparkling, then whites, rosé, orange and red.

2. Group by region – Producers are laid out by county to make it easier for tasters to plan their day.

3. Don’t forget the focus tables – this year’s themes are the 2026 W**eGB trophy winners, Chardonnay, PIWIs and Cellar Door by price.  

4. Take a break – there are interesting panel discussions on hospitality and tourism as well as break-out masterclasses with our supporting partners RIEDEL The W**e Glass Company.

5. Don’t try and taste everything!

That’s the question at the heart of the afternoon panel discussion at this year’s W**eGB National Trade & Press Tasting at Old Billingsgate this coming Monday, 7th September.

Alice Griffiths, co-founder of UK w**e and lifestyle magazine, Uncorked Magazine, columnist Vineyard Magazine GB and Guinness World Record holder for visiting 69 UK vineyards in seven days during English W**e Week 2025, will be joined by:

Disease-resistant grape varieties are becoming an increasingly interesting part of the UK w**e story as growers look for ways to work with a changing climate while reducing disease pressure.  

PIWI does not mean “disease-proof”, and it isn’t a guarantee that a vineyard can abandon crop protection altogether. Resistance varies between varieties and conditions, and growers must still manage their vineyards carefully.  

But in a cool, damp climate such as Britain’s, where mildew can be a significant challenge, greater tolerance can be invaluable.
