Why Margate? Because it’s ready.

The town already has a thriving food and drink culture, a creative spirit, and a steady stream of visitors from London.

public sampling was at Low Margate wine fair last summer and Pour Choices at the Tate Modern last autumn, where they were sampled by 400-500 people and met with incredibly positive feedback and enquiries for sales.

Margate Wine are now getting ready for this year’s wine fair with their official launch and first commercial release.

People are curious, excited – and thirsty.

Margate Wine believes in the urban winery model. And they believe it can thrive here in Margate.

Join them next Sunday 14th at 1pm, here at The Shakespeare for a Q&A discussion, followed by wine tasting. Bring any questions you may have and enjoy local natural wines!

When 20kg of grapes landed on their doorstep in 2023, the team at thought they’d have a crack at making wine.

With lots of passion and little knowledge, they got to work in their Margate basement.

With an aim to make wine that was fresh, fun and best enjoyed on the Steps watching the Margate sunset, they started with 20 bottles. Then 200. This year, 2,000.

They say when you start, you can’t turn back. Led by Aaryn – a child of hospitality who grew up in the restaurant industry in the 1990s – she fell into the deep end of natural wine seven years ago while living in London.

Since their first vintage in 2023, they’ve bolstered their knowledge; working three harvests, two in southern Italy (L’Archetipo – pioneers of synergistic farming in Puglia – and Robb de Matt – revivalists of ancient winemaking traditions in Campania), and one in Aaryn’s home state of Vermont (La Garagista – known for its biodynamic wines and use of cold-climate hybrids), these experiences have greatly influenced the way they make wine.

Their vision is simple: grow slowly, keep it natural, and root themselves in the community around them.

Meet our wine partner for 🍷

are an urban winery doing things differently - small-batch, natural wine made by hand, right in the heart of Margate. Grapes in, wine out with no additive and no shortcuts - just honest wine shaped by whatever nature gives them that year.

Rooted in Margate’s creative energy and part of a growing movement of independent English producers, they’re proof that great wine doesn’t need to travel far to find a great crowd.

We couldn’t think of a better pour for the festival & we can’t wait for you all to get a taste!

This time we’re even closer to the Tasting Rooms which are over the road at the Arlington Car Park on Saturday 13th June.

This summer we’ll be pouring:

🧡Aperol Spritz– the classic you know and love

🥃Campari Spritz – bitter, bold, beautiful

🌸 Hugo Spritz – elderflower & delicate sweetness in a glass

🍋 Limoncello Spritz – zesty, refreshing, summer in a sip

Honestly, they’re all so delicious we struggle to pick a favourite! If you’re not sure which you’d prefer ask our friendly team & they’ll happily advise you.
