For more than 160 years the company has not only created and developed award winning beer, but also served the community of which it forms a part of. It has built sustainable jobs and worked with charities to deliver substantial benefits to people living in the brewery’s area of operations and beyond. Established in 1849, Joseph Holt Ltd has been managed by its founding family for five generations

. Throughout that time the company has been driven by traditions of professionalism, honesty and innovation. So the business, although rooted in the traditional values of a family firm with a reputation built on traditional draft and bottled beer, has always looked to evolve. The most recent developments in that evolution are the Crystal and Diamond range of lagers and the Golden Ale Two Hoots. These products join the collection of award winning lagers and excellent Smooth and Black keg beer. The brewery has an established pub estate that is carefully managed to ensure that it is focused on growth.

✨International Day of Charity✨

Charity is something very important to us here at Joseph Holt and we do everything we can to raise money for some really good causes.

This year our charity appeal has been to raise money for four children's charities: Derian House, Francis House Children's Hospice, Fylde Kids Foundation & Wood Street Mission. We raised an incredible £250,000! 🔵

From fundraising days to charity car washes to charity walks and to simply putting money in a bucket on the weekly quiz night, the work our pubs and customers have put in to hit our target, has been inspiring to witness. 😅👏

✨PUB OF THE MONTH!!✨

This month it goes to The Richmond, Southport! 🎉

Michelle has been at the pub for 7 years, she has a wonderful team and the pubs standards are exceptional. The Richmond is at the centre of the local community and is always finding new ways to bring people together, the team have smashed their charity targets and have recently held their second 'Woofts' dog competition, which is community favourite and a perfect example of how The Richmond is always finding new ways to bring the community together. 🍻

We recently had the pleasure of being involved in the Young Chefs Competition for students from the North West & IOM, held at Sharples School in Bolton. 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Two students represented schools from Newton-le Willows, Macclesfield & Bolton and their objective was to prepare and serve a two-course healthy and nutritious meal within two hours. Joseph Holt's own Mike Gauder and Brendan Corder were the judges for the day. 🥗

This competition aims to encourage young people to develop food presentation skills, understand and apply food hygiene principles and gain confidence in managing time and pressure in a demanding situation. 🧑‍🍳

The winning two-course meal was created by Safiyyah Patel from Sharple High School 🏆

Mild and Mighty went on to win Champion Mild of Mild Magic 2026. 👏
