From the minute Dan started, he has been the epitome of CnC and our values. For someone with so much talent, he is humble and respectful and an absolute pleasure to work with. He has gone above and beyond in many ways and we are very lucky to call him one of our own.

A few specials worth making plans for 💛

They’re not around for much longer, but they’ve been so popular we’ve got a feeling they’ll be making a return.

Stracciatella & Pesto Loaded Garlic Bread
finished with plenty of grated Grana Padano.

Piña Colada Prawns
panko king prawns with pineapple, chilli, mint & coconut salsa, toasted coconut flakes and burnt lime.

Pan-Fried Cajun Seabass
with roasted new potatoes, peppers, courgette and tomatoes, finished with fresh tomato & chilli sauce and pesto.

Verde Rigatoni
fresh spinach, basil & garlic sauce, torn stracciatella, dried chilli, lemon zest, EVO oil and fresh basil.

We wouldn’t normally post things like this, however...

We posted yesterday, how we're relieved to finally pay off our covid bounce back loan & what a relief it is, however the reality is with the challenges the hospitality industry is under & especially following recent budgets that for us like many (those that did survive) is only a small part...

We’re all feeling the cost of living that’s for sure, we can all see how prices have increased across the board, but Hospitality is being squeezed from every direction.

On top of the costs we're all seeing, like food, utility bills, the increase in business rates is beyond words, the wage increase, national insurance, suppliers, repairs, training, keeping the lights on, keeping the standards high… all of it costs more than it used to.

The industry are trying to come together & challenge the government on reducing the 20% VAT bill!

A huge bill that is contributing to the closure of local pubs up & down the country at a growing rate!

The UK hospitality industry pays by far the highest amount of VAT across Europe at 20% with the average being around 12% & as low as 3%!!

By the government taking this action, it will radically STOP pubs closing at the pace they are, it WILL mean more pubs opening, more jobs created & importantly more doors open for young people to start their careers

We’re proud of what CnC is & we're so humble & grateful of what we have, however the increase in costs that have come in since April are beyond crazy & can totally see why so many pubs have closed & for sure so many more WILL DO, unless something is done...

That’s why we’re supporting the campaign, calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10%. It might sound like a policy issue, but really it’s about people. Our team, suppliers, guests & community.

A quiet milestone for us today 💛

Six years on, we’ve officially paid off our Covid loan.

It’s hard to explain what that means unless you were trying to keep a hospitality business moving through that time. Like so many venues, we were making decisions we never imagined we’d have to make, just trying to protect the team, keep the business standing, and believe there would be life on the other side of it.

That loan gave us breathing space when we needed it most.

But it also stayed with us.
A reminder of the uncertainty, the pressure, and how hard this industry had to work just to keep going.

So to finally clear it feels like a moment worth sharing.

And really, this isn’t just about us.

It’s about every guest who came back through the doors.
Every breakfast in the garden and Sunday roast.
Every birthday meal, family gathering, first date, live music night, Christmas booking, school holiday cinema, coffee catch-up and “we’ll just have one” that turned into a few.

You helped us move from surviving to building something we’re truly proud of.

We’re proud of our team.
Proud of the familiar faces we get to welcome every week.
Proud of the community around us.
And very grateful that CnC gets to be part of Boothstown life.

Hospitality is still under real pressure, and we know we’re not alone in that. But today, we’re taking a moment to acknowledge how far we’ve come and to say thank you.

Acoustic Sundays are back.

This Sunday is the first one of the season, with Jess Kemp () joining us in the tipi from 2–5pm.

We’ll have an acoustic musician in the tipi every Sunday throughout summer. That means easy afternoons, live music, food and drinks in the garden… does it get better than that?

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM US 💛

We are still facing the same issues with our kitchen extraction today, we won't be running our usual à la carte menu.

Our team's wellbeing has to come first, and it simply wouldn't be fair to have our chefs working in those conditions.

That said, being the heroes they are, our kitchen team will still be serving from our BBQ menu today, so there'll still be plenty to enjoy. You can view the menu on our website.
