Next steps in making little improvements to this amazing old pub: signage!
Back in the olden days of 2017, Phil Speight MBE - Traditional Painter hand-painted the bar here, and it’s been a part of The Wharf’s character ever since.
Since then, Phil has been recognised with an MBE for his craft of traditional canal boat painting - he is literally one of the best in the WORLD at this. He’s also a regular at the bar here, so it was an easy chat to commission him for a new (and also old) identity for the pub.
What he sauntered in with has blown us away. It’s a fantastic hand-painted piece, and we’ve now had it framed by the lovely chap at Medina Macclesfield and hung it in pride of place above the bar as you walk in.
Come and enjoy a pint to see for yourself. We’re open from 4:30 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and from 12:00 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
