Ground breaking restaurant concept, tibits, opened its first UK eatery - an all-day, vegetarian restaurant, bar with ‘food to go’ - in October 2008. The food offering in the London outlet, follows in the footsteps of the five phenomenally successful Swiss restaurants. The focal point of the restaurant, located in the heart of Regent Street’s eating quarter, is a giant food boat containing 40 fabul

ous hot and cold dishes. Customers can opt for either a plate to eat in or a ‘food to go’ container; either way the food is charged for by weight. Using seasonal ingredients, the menu is influenced by a wide variety of cuisines, from Asian and Indian to Mediterranean. Relaxed and uncomplicated, guests can enjoy the healthy, tasty tibits menu throughout the day. tibits trades from early morning with coffees, a breakfast buffet and freshly squeezed juices, through to late evening offering an extensive range of cocktails, wines and beers.

We’ve spent the last few months staring down the question - how can we get tibits to the other side? No matter how many new ideas and lifelines were shared, it was never enough. The rising costs of running restaurants in London have been ramping up for years; and with all the economic uncertainty surrounding this pandemic, we just don’t have the reserves to get back on our feet. So we are now in the unbearable position where we have to permanently close our restaurants in Mayfair and Bankside. tibits will continue to spread the love in its Swiss and German restaurants.

It’s been 12 years since we came to London and we've grown from four to fourteen restaurants during this time. It's been a fantastic journey - pioneering plant-based, making friends and delighting in every time someone creates their own delicious plate. Our beloved regulars and the people who work so hard at tibits are our favourite people. The messages and support we’ve received since we’ve been closed have lifted our spirits through the most difficult times. A true testament to an outstanding team who we know will go on to spread plant powered love and keep our mission alive in different ways.

As the world begins to come out of this, we must continue to focus on the positives. People have to start questioning where their food comes from and prioritising a healthy, nutritious, plant-based diet. Now more than ever, food has the power to change the world. We hope you’ll visit us at our restaurants in Switzerland and Germany so we can continue this mission together.

Like so many businesses across the globe, our world was turned upside-down overnight by the COVID-19 pandemic.Despite government support, we’re not able to see a viable way to re-open our restaurants in Bankside and Heddon Street within the current climate so we’ll stay closed for the time being.

A huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been in touch with kind words and everyone working hard to keep us going. We see you and are very grateful.

From the start, tibits has been on a mission to make vegan and vegetarian diets more mainstream and thanks to you, our loyal guests, we have seen a huge increase in understanding and acceptance of living a plant-based lifestyle. This makes us incredibly happy and we hope to spread the love and plant powered food again soon.
