Creating a Safe, Supportive, and Inclusive Space for Our Community
At Rhythm & Vibes Dance, the safety, well-being, and peace of mind of our community members are our absolute highest priorities. We strive to create safe and inclusive spaces based on respect and proactive care.
We take this responsibility seriously and following some recent feedback from our community, we realised that while we work tirelessly behind the scenes, not all of our attendees may be fully aware of the extensive protocols and procedures we have running in the background to ensure everyone has a safe, comfortable, and fun night
We wanted to take a moment to openly share the concrete measures and safeguards we have in place at all our events as well as additional measures we are putting in place to support our attendees at all future events.
Our On-Site Safeguards & Support:
We do not view safety as a passive checklist, but as an active, ongoing commitment. At every event we host, we ensure the following protocols are strictly enforced:
• A Diverse, Approachable Team: We pride ourselves on having a balanced, diverse team of both female and male members across our entire operation—including our security team, teachers, event organisers, and support staff. We want everyone in our community to feel represented, comfortable, and confident that there is always an approachable team member available to talk to.
• 10+ Years of Experienced Security: We employ a dedicated team of four fully certified security professionals who bring over a decade of direct experience working specifically at our dance events and alongside our dance community. They know our crowd, understand our culture, and are expertly trained to monitor the venue, manage crowds, and intervene swiftly if any inappropriate behaviour occurs. We have recently increased our security from 3 to 4 members as our event has become more well attended
• Active Floor Monitoring: Alongside our security team, our on-site event staff and organisers actively monitor the dance floor, seating areas, and communal spaces throughout the night to ensure a respectful environment for everyone.
• Safer Dance Spaces Initiative & Zero Tolerance: We are proud active participants in the Safer Dance Spaces Initiative. As part of this commitment, we enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy toward harassment, violence, or abuse of any kind at our events. Our team is specifically trained to recognise vulnerabilities and respond immediately to any reported concerns. We will always thoroughly investigate any reports or concerns raised, and where evidence of any misconduct is found, we will take swift action. We will never hesitate to take decisive measures to protect our community, and we have a proven track record of acting firmly to maintain these standards.
How We Handle Concerns:
Our team is trained to act immediately when an issue is brought to our attention on-site. To ensure we can act effectively, we encourage anyone who experiences or witnesses’ behaviour that feels wrong, unsettling, or out of character to immediately report it to a member of security or staff at the door or bar while at the venue.
If you or a friend are feeling concerned by something, overwhelmed, unsafe, or unwell, please do not feel you have to navigate it alone or leave the venue immediately to get away. We have dedicated, secure, and private spaces on-site where immediate support and sanctuary can be provided. Being surrounded by trained, supportive professionals and security who can actively protect you, coordinate assistance, and investigate the situation in real time is always the safest choice. This allows our team to legally engage, identify individuals, and provide immediate, real-time intervention.
A Shared Commitment to Safety:
While we invest heavily in professional security and active monitoring to keep our venue secure, creating a safe & supportive environment is a collective effort. Just as you would in any public nightlife space or club, we encourage all attendees to look out for one another and practice standard nightlife vigilance:
• Stay Together: Look out for your friends, especially if someone seems unwell, confused, or out of character.
• Protect Your Belongings: Keep track of your personal items, store your valuables in our cloakroom and as a standard precaution in crowded social spaces with mixed seating, avoid leaving drinks unattended or swapping cups. When in doubt, assume a safety-first approach.
Our New & Enhanced Measures:
To build upon these existing protocols and further strengthen our safety network, we are introducing the following immediate updates at all future venues:
• Front Desk Entry Signage: We are installing clear, prominent signage at the entry point and front desk that explicitly highlights our community expectations of behaviour & details our strict zero-tolerance policy toward any inappropriate conduct.
• Table Signage & Reminders: New informational signage will be placed on tables throughout our seating areas, serving as a helpful reminder of key points and practical tips for ensuring a safe night out for yourself and your friends.
• Ticket Sales Page Disclaimer: We are adding a clear disclaimer to our event ticket sales page to ensure our standards are understood before booking. This note will outline our commitment to safer dance spaces and our zero-tolerance policy toward harassment, violence, or abuse of any kind. It will explicitly state that we reserve the right to deny entry, revoke tickets, or remove anyone from the venue whose conduct does not align with these community standards.
We love our community, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure our events remain a space where you can dance with confidence, joy, and peace of mind.
Thank you for your continued support, your vigilance, and for helping us keep our environment safe for everyone.
