🎧 DJ OG's Top Tips for Top Tips: Summer Edition Part Two 🎧

I'm back with another DJ OG's Top Tips.

I'm recording this one from my holiday in Spain again, so sticking with a little summer twist at the end.

This tip is about novelties - the bits you hand out at the end of the night while people are still dancing.

I'm a big fan of foam LED glow sticks. Give people something to hold in their hands and they dance more. There's probably some psychology behind it, but honestly, I've noticed it really works. Give your crowd something to hold and they'll stay on the dance floor.

My summer twist on this one: grab some little fans off Temu. Cools your guests down AND doubles up as a little go-home present.

🎧 DJ OG's Top Tips for Top Tips: Summer Edition Part One 🎧

Seeing as this group is called Top Tips, I wanted to start sharing some of my top tips to help anyone putting on an event - whether that's a party, a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, or anything in between.

Since we've just had summer, the first few tips will be summer themed.

Tip one: Air conditioning in your venue.

Air con can make or break a summer event, so always check whether your chosen venue has it. If it doesn't, look at hiring some in. Or at the very least, get some big fans on site to keep people cool.

Because if it's too hot in there, people won't dance. They'll just spend the whole night outside.

So ask the venue early, and plan accordingly (and if you need help sorting air con for your event give me a shout).

🥳 Isla's Batmitzvah Party 🥳

What a night! The vibe and the crowd were electric all night.

Here's one of the moments every parent hopes for at a Bat Mitzvah - the kids actually dancing, not stood round on their phones.
That's the job. Read the room and keep them on the floor.
This awesome crowd were on the floor the whole night.

Part 2 of 'Who is DJ Olly Grant' is here 🎧

Part 1 was about how I fell in love with DJ'ing. This one's about what I'm doing now.

The thing I'm most proud of at every event isn't the setlist. It's the moment I look across the dance floor and see three generations going for it at the same time. Grandparents, parents, teenagers, little ones. All in. That doesn't happen by accident. It takes really knowing your music, reading the room, and understanding the family you're there for.

But I'm not just the DJ though. I'm the one on the mic keeping the timeline flowing so you can actually be present on one of the biggest days of your family's life.

You shouldn't be worrying about a single thing on the night. That's my job.
That's who I am now.
