Thursday 1 October 8pm: John Etheridge's "Blue Spirits" Organ Trio

An iconic figure on the UK jazz scene, John Etheridge first came to prominence in the mid 70’s with the classic fusion band “Soft Machine”. During the same time - demonstrating his remarkable and now well-documented versatility - he also spent a number of years touring with the celebrated swing jazz violinist Stéphane Grappelli. In recent years he has been busy performing and recording as a solo artist and with his own bands, notably the “Zappatistas” (his tribute to Frank Zappa), “Sweet Chorus” dedicated to Stéphane and “Soft Machine”, with whom he still appears. A master guitarist he includes work with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Tony Williams, Yehudi Menuhin, Pat Metheny and John Williams on his extensive CV.

The Blue Spirits Trio John is leading tonight is a classic guitar-led jazz organ trio and showcases the bluesier side of John’s musical repertoire. With Pete Whittaker (Nigel Price, The Filthy Six) on organ (a superb accompanist as well as soloist) and drummer George Double (Shirley Bassey, Mica Paris, Art Themen & more). This is unquestionably live music at its very best.

Wednesday 30 September 8pm: Alex Merritt/Steve Fishwick Quintet

Based in Bristol saxophonist Alex Merritt has, over the last few years, been steadily building a solid reputation as fluent and powerful improvisor, a composer of great skill and originality and a respected educator. He has recorded two albums for the Barcelona-based Fresh Sound New Talent label as well as producing, composing and performing on their 30th anniversary album “Common Threads”. Steve Fishwick is widely regarded as one of the finest jazz trumpeters to come from the UK, sharing the stage with the likes of Ron Carter, Anita O’Day & Cedar Walton.

Alex and Steve take the tenor/trumpet frontline into fresh, exciting, directions drawing on a wide spectrum of influences from contemporary jazz to classical music, performing a mix of classic jazz quintet material as well as original material from themselves and award-winning pianist John Turville. Their debut album 'Mind-Ear-Ladder' was released on Fresh Sound New Talent in 2022 to significant critical acclaim and the gig tonight features the aforementioned John Turville Music-piano along with Connor Murray-bass and Ethan Sweeting-drums.

Tuesday 29 September 8pm: Corrie Dick/George Crowley Quartet

From Glasgow, since graduating as a gold medal student from Trinity Laban’s prestigious jazz course the multi-award-winning drummer Corrie Dick has garnered a host of accolades. He includes work with the likes of Laura Jurd, Jasper Høiby, Elliot Galvin and Rob Luft on a sparkling cv as well as establishing his own music with his various highly acclaimed projects, including a very well received debut album which was nominated for the Parliamentary Jazz Awards' “Album of the Year”. More recently he has been impressing with his captivating solo shows which feature not only his jazz sensibilities but his extensive knowledge of World Music forms and rhythms.

Saxophone and clarinet player/composer George Crowley Music released two acclaimed albums, ‘Paper Tiger’ & ‘Can of Worms’ with his own groups on celebrated jazz indie label Whirlwind Recordings. His warm and expressive sax has also been heard however in a variety of other contexts, from contemporary showstoppers such as Melt Yourself Down and Yazz Ahmed to the Julian Argüelles' Septet. Lately, he's been working with top UK jazz artists including pianist Ivo Neame and vocalist Brigitte Beraha's "lucid Dreamers". These two top players, joined by guitarist James Kitchman and bassist Steve Watts will perform a mix of classic and contemporary jazz standards.

Thursday 24 September 8pm: Gareth Lockrane's “Expansions” Tribute to McCoy Tyner ft Femke Mooren

First noticed for his dazzling flute playing, Gareth Lockrane is also a renowned composer, arranger and bandleader. As well as working at the highest level with artists such as Bheki Mseleku, James Taylor and Phil Robson, his own projects, including the Parliamentary Jazz & MOJO Award-winning soul/jazz band Grooveyard and celebrated Big Band are world class.

This performance this evening is an exploration of the late Blue Note era of the iconic pianist McCoy Tyner. Featuring the impressive young pianist Thomas Sladden, who’s already making a name for himself on the circuit most recently playing at Ronnies and Gareth’s special guest, the up-and-coming Dutch jazz saxophonist Femke Mooren, the recipient of the 2023 Princess Christina Jazz Competition Prize along with Oli Hayhurst-bass and Darren Beckett-drums don’t miss this exciting, cross-generational, international quintet!

Monday 28 September 7:45pm: Tony White Session Band

The Tony White Session Band is an exciting six-piece ensemble, bringing together soulful vocals, exceptional playing and a repertoire that spans classic favourites and contemporary grooves. Led by keyboard player, musical director and educator Tony White, who is known to many for his work with Bonners Music and his popular YouTube channel (which has attracted an audience of more than 60,000 subscribers), Tony has a lifelong passion for live performance.

Joined by David French-guitar, Callum Poole-bass, Chris Makin-vocals/percussion, Pete Turtle-vocals/drums and Faye Streek-vocals the band plays choice songs from artists including Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Earth, Wind & Fire, Elton John and George Duke as well modern jazz-funk by artists such as Scary Goldings. A feel-good night of great music!

Sunday 27 September 8pm: Acantha Lang-Standing On The Shoulders Of…Soul Legends

Grammy-nominated New Orleans-born soul singer Acantha Lang has been hailed as one of the most exciting new voices in contemporary soul and funk. Her debut album, "Beautiful Dreams", reached #3 on the Official UK Jazz & Blues Albums Chart and was the SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award for "New Artist of the Year". She made her US TV debut on CBS Saturday Morning, has performed at major venues across the UK, Spain, France and the Netherlands and her music can be heard on BBC Radio 2, 6 & Jazz FM.

Her latest show performed tonight is a celebration of the voices that built soul music. Inspired by Acantha’s own YouTube series that has reached over 16 million views worldwide, it features music by legends from Gil Scott-Heron and Donny Hathaway to Aretha Franklin & Stevie Wonder. Sunday Lunch 27 September 1:30pm: Greg Davis with Special Guest Vanessa Rose

An engaging, melodic, sax player in the classic mainstream style, Greg Davis led the band ‘Henry’s Pencil’ which held the attendance record at the famous 100 Club in Oxford Street. A stalwart of the French Riviera (that's Greg's description, not ours!) he also performed at the Cannes Film Festival for over a decade. Today Greg will be appearing with Paul Eldridge-piano, Julian Bury-bass and Special Guest vocalist Vanessa Rose, “performing some of the known and lesser-known jazz standards".

Saturday 26 September 9pm: Fraser Smith Quartet

Over the last decade and a half Fraser Smith has built a fiery reputation as a leading tenor saxophonist on the UK scene. With a focus on swing and the straight ahead he channels the sound and language of the “big US Tenor men” and his debut album “Tiptop!”, released on Ubuntu Records, amassed an impressive 1.3 million streams. He includes work alongside the likes of US artists Harry Allen, Pat O’Leary, Chuck Redd and most recently here at the Club with iconic US bass player Chuck Israels’ (John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Stan Getz, Bill Evans) European quartet.

Fraser’s latest album “Lifeline!” was added to The Times and Jazzwise 'Best Jazz Albums of 2025' lists, receiving a glowing 4-star review from each. Aside from his busy UK schedule Fraser continues to perform internationally, including clubs in Portugal, China, Beijing, Brussels, Paris, Mexico and more. Also featured tonight: Alex Bryson-piano, Simon Read-bass & Steve Brown-drums.
