WHAT an evening! ❤️

On Tuesday, we welcomed the legend that is Angela Hartnett to the GT, alongside Murano London Head Chef Piero Tiddia, for a very special night of incredible Italian cooking and lots and lots of fun.

We’ve been blown away by the feedback from our wonderful guests – some who live just opposite the pub, others who travelled hours to join us. It was brilliant to see faces old and new, and we’re already looking forward to welcoming so many of you back.

A special shout-out to our wonderful regulars, who show up time and time again to support us. We love being able to put on nights like this and bring something a little different to the GT.

And, of course, a HUGE thank you to Angela and Piero. Between restaurants, podcast recordings and a million other projects, Angela’s diary isn’t exactly quiet, so it meant a lot that she gave up her time to come and cook with us.

When we opened the GT, our mission was to bring life back to a lost village pub. Last night – a packed pub, brilliant food and lots of laughter – felt like absolute proof of that.

So proud of our team. What a night. ❤️

Beef tartare 🤝 beef fat toast.
Because sometimes the best things in life are simply beef on beef.
Our tartare is dressed with shallot and tarragon, then served with plenty of gloriously rich beef fat toast for scooping, spreading and generally making a mess of things.

One year of The General Tarleton 🎉
What a year it’s been.
From day one to now, it’s been an incredible journey filled with great food, plenty of laughs, unforgettable moments and, most importantly, an incredible team.
In our first year, we’ve been featured in the Michelin Guide, welcomed some seriously talented chefs and wine producers for our Chef Dinner Series and Wine Nights, taken home the Ones to Watch title at the Top 50 Gastropub Awards, and made it into The Good Food Guide’s Top 100 Pubs, alongside plenty of other milestones and memories along the way.
A huge thank you to everyone who’s visited, supported us, celebrated with us and helped make our first year so special. And, of course, to our brilliant team, who bring The GT to life every single day.
We also wanted to say a big thank you to for the incredible birthday cake! 🎂 It was every bit as delicious as it looked.
Here’s to year two, and plenty more good times to come. 🥂

National Burger Day 🍔
It’s National Burger Day, so naturally we’ve got something to celebrate.
Our GT burger keeps things simple: a proper, juicy beef patty, melted Sparkenhoe Red, a soft potato bun, house pickles, fresh crunch and our punchy burger sauce. No unnecessary bells and whistles — just a very good burger doing what a very good burger should.
Best burger in Yorkshire? We’ll let you decide. We’re modest like that.

What makes a great Scotch egg?

For us, it’s a perfectly gooey yolk, really good-quality pork, a crisp golden crumb and a generous dollop of brown sauce on the side.
