We have let Henry take his pinny off and released him from the chicken coop to have a well earned break, so unfortunately there will be no Scotch Eggs this week. Instead there will be sausage rolls, and as usual a variety of filled cobs.

The nights are drawing in, there's a feel of Autumn in the air, but the fire will be roaring, the welcome will be warm, and this weekends menu will be very tasty!

We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who joined us for Plant & Produce day 2026!

We absolutely loved seeing all the fantastic fruits, vegetables and flowers grown by you, and cakes, crafts and artwork made by you wonderful lot in Kirk Ireton!

We can only reiterate the wise words of our very own Nick Lockett: “Get growing, start planting, start sowing, get going for next year. Start saving for next year’s auction, we’ll see you again next year!”

Join us at The Barley Mow Orchard for an afternoon celebrating the very best crops Kirk Ireton has to offer! 🌱🥕🍅

🎺 Brass band & cream teas from 3:00 pm
🏆 Trophies and special prizes presented at 4:30 pm, including a prize for the exhibitor with the most points
💰Charity auction at 5:00 pm – items entered in the show will be auctioned off unless agreed otherwise with the show organisers

• Proceeds will go towards charity ❤️
• NO DOGS ALLOWED IN THE BARLEY MOW GARDEN

Happy weekend everyone! We hope you’ve had a lovely week. This (very wet land locked Bank Holiday) weekend, we’ve got:

Shipped all the way from Hayle, Cornwall, and prepared by the BM kitchen team, piping hot Cornish pasties with 3 fillings:
- Steak, or
- Steak and cheese, or
- Cheese and veg (v)

Served with home-baked beans or BM coleslaw

Very limited supply so book early to avoid disappointment. A couple of vegan/GF pasties also available.

For dessert we’ve got:
- Black forest ice cream sundae (dark chocolate sponge, spiced BM plum and berry compote, chocolate ice cream, chantilly cream)
- Banoffi sundae (vanilla ice cream, caramelised brandied bananas, home made toffee sauce, chantilly cream)

Through the day there will also be a selection of filled cobs, and we wouldn't dare deprive you of Henrys Scotch Eggs!

Good evening everyone, we hope you've had a great weekend. I think we were all relieved to get some rain. Henrys rain dance paid off, that guy, any chance for a boogie!

As the temperature has dropped a bit we thought you would be ready for a bit of spice, so this Saturday and Sunday from 6.30 we have curry!

🎉 huge congratulations to our kitchen fairy, Charlotte, who has absolutely smashed her A-Levels and is off to the University of Warwick to study Psychology in September! 🍾

Charlotte has been an integral part of the Barley Mow for the past few years and although we will miss her greatly, we are unbelievably proud of her!

We cannot wait to see her prosper into an Educational Psychologist 🎓

Good morning everyone! Sorry we are late posting, it was a busy one last night.

Sticking with the summery vibes, this Saturday and Sunday from 6.30 we have...

Breast of Duck glazed with Pomegranate molasses on Posh Peas, Lettuce and Pancetta, served with Buttered BM Potatoes and Green Beans

Salad Nicoise with fresh Tuna Steak and Henry's Bread

BM Courgette and Cumin Fritters served with BM Tomato and Pomegranate, Cucumber and Chilli salad, and BM Buttered Potatoes

To follow we have very tempting Apple Brown Betty served with Vanilla Ice Cream and Salted Caramel Sauce

For those of you wondering, BM stands for Barley Mow, all Henry's produce grown on site.

As always through the day there will be Henry's Scotch Eggs and filled cobs.

Henry seems to be the star of the show this week, we think he's in practice for the plant and produce show coming soon!
