I know it’s a way off but save the date in your diary.

The Great Ermington Community Supper. You can’t book a table. You can only book a chair. The pub will be set up banquet style so you could be sat anywhere and next to anyone. Come to the Crooked Spire in Ermington on the 18th of January 2027 from 6.30 PM. Just £6.00 per meal, heavily subsidized to bring the community together. And to finish, Barbara Jones’ famous flapjacks. Come along, grab a chair, and get talking.

Crafted to celebrate fifteen years of boundary-pushing blending from the visionary Compass Box Whisky Co., the 2015 Edition of Flaming Heart is a masterclass in balance—where bold peat smoke meets elegant, oak-aged complexity.
Born from a harmonious blend of heavy-peat Islay single malts and luscious Highland malts, this edition layers rich 30-year-old Caol Ila alongside waxy 20-year-old Clynelish and vibrant French oak-finished Highland single malts. Bottled at a robust 48.9% ABV, non-chill filtered, and with natural color, it delivers a visceral, uncompromised sensory experience.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Earthy bonfire smoke and coastal sea spray intertwine with sweet heather honey, stewed orchard fruits, and a touch of warm baking spice.
Palate: Unapologetically rich and oily. Waves of sweet peat smoke and charred oak give way to dark citrus marmalade, creamy butterscotch, and lingering vanilla.
Finish: Exceptionally long and velvety, trailing off with subtle dried berries, delicate sandalwood, and a warm, sweet embers glow.

For all you whisky connoisseurs, We are going to featuring some very special whisky’s behind the bar. Not your average nip…..

Our first one is something very special.

Bruichladdich Black Art 11.

The 11th edition of Bruichladdich's most secretive collection. No one but Adam Hannett, the head distiller, knows the true recipe that has gone into this bottling. Only 12000 bottles made at an average of £400 per bottle it’s well worth popping in for a nip.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose – Dried fruits, leather and a hint of citrus immediately open on the nose, followed by a fresh sea breeze. Sweet fruit and floral notes come to the fore, with poached pear, delicate rose hip syrup, black cherry, and sweet mango. The complexity of the single malt is apparent as the aromas continue to open, with cedar and mellow oak complemented with butterscotch, praline, honey, and a hint of cinnamon. Warming oats are balanced with fragrant notes of rose and pear drops.
Palate – Dried fruits, dates, raisins, barley sugar, leather and oak open on the palate, followed by butterscotch sweetness, praline and hints of coconut and fresh citrus. Sweet apple and pear are married with toasted oak, warming wood spice, dark plums and marzipan, with layers of depth opening with each sip.
Finish – Oak and dried fruit come to the fore, with Christmas cake notes of sultanas, fig, marzipan, and lingering honey adding to the beautifully rounded finish.
