A few months ago, I shared that I needed to refocus my attention on The Pack Horse. Since then, we’ve been quietly getting on with it.
Theme nights are back, and Fish Friday — including our recent “Battle of the Chefs” — has been a roaring success. The next one lands on 1st May. Wednesdays Unwined is now firmly part of the week too — £5 glasses of house wine and £15 carafes, all day, every Wednesday.
Behind the scenes, we’ve also started investing back into the building. The windows have been replaced, the exterior has been redecorated, and we’ve now begun phase one of improving the bar area.
You’ll notice a temporary wall in the pub at the moment while we replace part of the floor. It does mean a bit of disruption — and a few less tables for now — so please bear with us while we get it sorted. We’re currently waiting on an asbestos report before we can complete the works, so fingers crossed for a clear result and a quick return to full service.
One thing that hasn’t changed — despite all the pressure in the industry — is our house lager, which remains at £5.50 a pint. That kind of pricing only works with support. Keeping things accessible relies on consistency and volume, and that’s something I’m committed to — as long as we’ve got people through the door to sustain it.
And alongside all of this, there’s something really exciting taking shape in the background — a rebrand that ties in with the new direction of the pub. It’s not quite ready to fully share yet, but it’s something I’m genuinely proud of, and I think you’ll love it.
There’s still plenty to do, but the direction is right, and the pub is starting to feel like itself again.
Thanks, as always, for the continued support.
