Last night, we welcomed a family who arrived without a reservation. As always, we were happy to accommodate them. 🍽️
During their meal, one of the adults complained that a hair had been found in a child’s macaroni cheese. Our staff responded immediately, removed the dish, and our chef offered to prepare a fresh meal of their choice. This offer was accepted, although the replacement meal was later taken home as the child had already eaten the majority of the original dish.
The hair in question was notably long, which raised some questions given that our chef is neither long-haired nor capable of producing such a specimen. After the family left, we reviewed our CCTV footage and were surprised to discover the apparent source of the hair: the complainant herself. 🤔 🕵🏻♀️
Unfortunately, the evening did not end there. CCTV footage also appears to show a bottle of ketchup being concealed in a child’s hat before leaving the premises, along with an ice cream bowl and, perhaps most devastatingly, the accompanying teaspoon. 😮
While we appreciate that everyone enjoys a good bottle of Heinz, and we understand the undeniable appeal of a stainless-steel teaspoon, we would gently remind customers that these items are not currently included in our takeaway menu. ❌
Running a small hospitality business is challenging enough without having to deal with false complaints, threats of social media campaigns, and missing tableware. We are incredibly proud of our team, who handled the situation with patience, professionalism, and far more restraint than most people would manage. 👏🏻 👏🏻
We believe businesses have the right to defend themselves against dishonest behaviour just as customers have the right to raise genuine concerns. We will always take legitimate complaints seriously and do everything we can to put things right. However, we will not stay silent when accusations are demonstrably untrue.
To our loyal customers: thank you for your continued support. And to anyone who may have accidentally gone home with a ketchup bottle, an ice cream bowl, and a teaspoon last night, our lost property box is always available. 🐑🤍
