Well… it’s been fun...
This August marks 4 years since we opened the doors to Tipsy’s. It’s been an incredible journey, but sadly, at the end of the month, it’ll be time for us to close them for the last time. Our last day of opening will be the 29th of August.
Not many know, but Tipsy’s exists because I wanted something to remember my grandad by. It was originally going to be named after him, Robert, but we couldn’t get the domain and it was also the trademark of another bar.
But whatever the name, it was always for him.
We took on a project, and my god it was a project. Converting an abandoned launderette into a bar... easy, right?
Wrong. 😂
Covid hit, prices went through the roof, and what was meant to be a 12-month project turned into nearly three years.
While the premises sat empty, I went away on a mate’s stag do and got talking to Elliot.
I ranted about all the issues, how slow everything was moving and how nothing seemed to be working. To be honest, I didn’t believe a word he said when he told me he’d sort it.
Fast forward a month and everything was flying. It was actually happening!
A few months later I was unpacking chairs at 3am, trying to get everything ready for a soft opening the next day. Without Elliot, it simply wouldn’t have happened. Thanks mate. 🍻
Then came four years of great times... birthdays, wedding parties, baby showers, gigs, football nights out and those nights that caused mornings from hell. 😂🍹
Our team has changed a few times over the years, but right now we’ve got the best we’ve ever had.
A massive thank you to Chloe, Ava and Eloise for all your hard work, and most of all to Mollie, who’s kept everything flowing while putting up with my never-ending demands.
A big thank you to Diane from The Nook for all her help, advice and the emergency till rolls, and to Lynda and Jacob from The Vine for helping us out with stock and bouncer work whenever we needed it.😂
Finally, thank you to everyone who has ever chosen Tipsy’s. Whether you came once or became one of our regulars, we’ve loved having you and we couldn’t have done it without you. ❤️
Come and join us on the 29th of August for one final drink. 🍸🥂
