☠️☠️WHAT A NIGHT! THANK YOU! 🖤

Thank you SO much to every single one of you who packed out the pub, laughed, quizzed, and made it such a brilliant atmosphere. 🤩

A massive, massive thank you to the wonderful Geoff for hosting- you were amazing as always! 🙏🏻 thank you ☺️

And the best bit... together we raised £125 for Overgate Hospice! 🥰🖤

Thank you to my amazing staff Lydia and Katelyn for smashing it on a super busy night, and thank you all again for your support.

LORD & LADY ROSE - EST. 1725
The Wicked Couple of the Rose & Crown.

This is Lord and Lady Rose. And their dog Ed

They were not nice landlords. They were wicked.

He kept the books. She kept the list.

If you were polite, you got a pint. If you were rude or disrespectful to the pub, to her husband, or to Ed - you didn't get barred.

You got buried. ☠️

That was their rule. They didn't bar people. They killed them and buried them in the b**r garden.🪏

Lord Rose would lock the front door after last orders. Lady Rose would pour you one last drink on the house, that wicked sweet smile from the photo. And then Ed would start growling at the back door.🐾

No one ever saw them leave. But the next morning, the ledger was balanced, the bar was clean, and there was fresh earth in the b**r garden.🪏

On hot nights, you can still smell them. The ones who argued about their change. The ones who thought they could mess with the Rose & Crown.☠️

Lord Rose died in 1768. Lady Rose died two days later, in his chair, holding his pocket watch. Ed laid down between them and never got up.

They never left. Sometimes the bell rings to call last orders on its own 🔔 wet paw marks on the floor but no dog! 🐾

ROSE AND CROWN-EST 1725

THE DUET 👩🏼‍❤️‍👨🏽 🎙️

Meet Lily and Douglas webley. Husband and wife. The Rose & Crown's first ever entertainment act. Every Friday night for 20 years, they sang on that exact spot - no stage, just a crate by the bar.

Their final song was always "All's Well That Ends Well" - they never missed it.

On Christmas Eve 1847, during a blizzard, they left the pub after their set to walk home to Cherry tree. They never made it. Found the next morning, frozen arm-in-arm on milner lane, still in their stage clothes.

But every Friday, just before last orders, regulars swear they hear it. Two microphones humming with no one holding them. A faint crackle, then two voices harmonising that final song.

Staff refuse to stack the chairs on Friday nights. They say if you listen closely, you can still hear them holding the last note. 🎙️

THE JESTER 🃏

The Jester's worst habit? He always laughed at his own jokes even when no one else did!

It drove the Lord of Greetland insane. So on Halloween 1766, they dragged him through the streets of Greetland into the rose and crowns cellar and sewed his mouth shut to silence him forever . 😶Then they walled him up alive, still in his wig and ruff leaving him there to perish.

Staff still hear it after last orders - a muffled, stitched laugh bubbling up through the floorboards, laughing at a joke only he remembers.

⏳ THE LEGEND OF SIR KOLEX ⏳
ROSE & CROWN, EST 1725

Long before the Rose & Crown poured its first pint, there was a watchmaker who lived within these walls.

His name was Sir Kolex. ⏱️

He wasn't interested in making watches. He was obsessed with STOPPING time.

They say he filled this room with hundreds of clocks, ticking out of time, trying to find the one second where death couldn't find him. He wore 5 pocket watches at once, each set to a different time - past, present, future, and two times that don't exist.

One Halloween night in 1893, at exactly midnight, all of his clocks stopped at once. Sir Kolex vanished. But the ticking never stopped.

Some nights, we can still hear it. Tick. Tick. Tick. In the walls!

This Thursday, the clocks start again.
