A LITTLE RESPECT GOES A LONG WAY! 🌳⚽
We’d like to make a polite request to everyone using the grassed area at Glusburn Institute.
As we’ve said in previous posts, we’re delighted to see children enjoying the space, spending time outdoors and making good use of the area, and we’re more than happy for this to continue.
However, we do need to ask that a little more care and respect is shown towards the grounds, our property and our neighbours.
Unfortunately, there have been a few issues recently that we’d like to bring to everyone’s attention:
⚽ Damaged football posts: As pictured, there are currently some dismantled and damaged football posts that have been left on the grass. We’d kindly ask whoever owns these to arrange for their removal. Aside from being unsightly, damaged equipment left lying around could present a safety risk to others using the area.
🚗 Car park signage: We’ve witnessed individuals deliberately spinning our car park signs around so that they face the wrong direction. Unfortunately, one of these signs has now also been damaged, as pictured. These signs are there for a reason, and interfering with or damaging them is simply not acceptable.
🏡 Respect for our neighbours: We’ve also received comments from neighbouring residents regarding disrespectful behaviour from some individuals using the area. We ask everyone to be mindful that the Institute is surrounded by homes and that our neighbours deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect.
We really don’t want this to become a situation where the actions of a small minority spoil things for everyone else.
We want the grassed area to remain somewhere that children can enjoy, and we have absolutely no desire to discourage its use. In fact, quite the opposite!
All we ask in return is that everyone treats the area with the same respect they would expect others to show towards their own property.
Please enjoy the space, look after it, take your belongings and rubbish home, respect our neighbours and leave everything as you found it.
We’d also appreciate parents and guardians having a conversation with their children about respecting the grounds and the facilities provided.
We’re proud to see the Institute and its grounds being enjoyed by the community, and with a little consideration from everyone, there’s no reason why that shouldn’t continue.
It’s a simple message: Please enjoy it, but please respect it. 💚
