There’s not many DJs play here that we make sure are booked for another night before they leave the building, but Phil Kieran is something special.

His debut gig here back in February was one of the most unique, mindblowing and flat-out genius sets McChuills has ever seen, hence us going through the diary while he was still playing.

So, once again alongside our comrades Manifesto of Bliss, we are bringing the great man back to the Acid Arch at the start of August.

Belfast-born and raised, Phil is an internationally-respected DJ, producer and screen composer, who is currently spotlighting his Le Carousel alias after a 10-year hiatus with his new album The Humans Will Destroy Us.

A mature, multi-layered record full of sparkling synths, gauzy vocals, languid beats and hypnotic pulsing heartache and hope, THWDU is a concept album that contemplates the nature of humankind, cruising between the club and the cosmos. Its launch is completed by remixes from contemporaries Curses, David Holmes and ALFOS co-founder Sean Johnston.

As a producer, Kieran has released a long string of revered techno 12”s on labels like Soma Records, Skint, Novamute and Cocoon, before founding his own imprint Phil Kieran Recordings (PKR). He has collaborated with artists such as Green Velvet, Nitzer Ebb’s Douglas J. McCarthy, Jochem “Speedy J” Paap and The Bush Tetras. His next collaboration, set for release in 2026 is with Roman Flügel.

Phil’s extensive roll call of remixes includes the likes of Arthur Baker, Depeche Mode, DJ Hell, Inner City, David Holmes, Nitzer Ebb, Agoria, UNKLE and Andrew Weatherall.

Anyone who was here in February will tell you how incredible he was, but if you weren’t there, you absolutely need to make this one. Trust us, it’s going to be something else.

Needless to say, this will sell out even more sharpish, so you don’t want to sleep on this one.

Get yrself sorted and we’ll see ye in August.

✊🏻🏴‍☠️💚

Phil Kieran is playing McChuills on Saturday August 1st from 7pm-Midnight. Tickets are available now from Skiddle via link in de bio.

It’s that time of the month again, where we welcome back one of the best DJs in Glasgow, our own glorious leader and benevolent dictator and the driving force behind Lets Go Back, yes the sharp-dressed man himself, comin’ Straight outta Paisley…the one and only Bosco…

The bold yin will be rocking the McChuills decks all night long and there’s probably no other DJ that knows quite how to get this place bouncing than the big fella (well, him and his Da, obvs) and rightly so…

Aaaanyway…expect anything and everything, from classic indie, ‘80s pop anthems, punk both regular and post, disco, as well as plenty of old-school hip hop and rave all the way up to the very latest cutting-edge bangers and a whole lot more. And yes, there will be acid. Lots and lots of acid. Because he can’t help himself. 🥴

Come on doon. It’s Bosco. It’s McChuills. It’s Saturday night. And it’s gonna be going aff like a banger. As always.

✊🏻🏴‍☠️💚

Bosco plays McChuills tonight, Saturday June 6th from 8pm to close. Entry is free!

Late to the party as fkn usual, but all of us here at McChuills would like to wish our own young Jude here the very happiest of birthdays.

In the relatively short time he’s worked here, he’s become an essential part of the McChuill’s family. One of the soundest, most decent guys you’ll ever meet, funny as f**k, a good human being with excellent taste in music and just generally cool as f**k too. ✊🏻

The place wouldn’t be the same without him already. Seriously.

We fkn love you mate.

Coming up in August, we’re buzzing to announce we have the return of Glasgow’s original and best Ska machine, the legendary Esperanza

The nine-piece collective need no introduction, you know who they are, you know what they do and you know they do it better than everyone else. Over the years they’ve shared stages with the likes of T***s and the Maytals, The Skatalites Band, Bad Manners, The Undertones and many more, but it’s at their own headline shows where they really shine.

Expect a ton of their superb originals as well as more than a few ska classics and a party that you just don’t want to miss. But you knew that already, eh?

This lot never fail to sell out McChuill’s when they come here and this’ll be no different, so don’t hang about getting sorted and if you do, don’t come skanking to us asking if there’s any spares…

Esperanza play McChuills on Friday August 7th. Tickets are on sale now from Skiddle via link in de comments and on Tickets Scotland.

🚨McCHUILL’S MATINEE SHOW ALERT🚨

We’re no stranger to a tribute band here in McChuills but we try to be selective about it. We don’t just book some randoms in fancy dress playing a bunch of covers and calling it a tribute. ‘Cos if it is, it’s a pretty bad one.

Ever since The Pogue Traders first played here all those years ago, the bar was set: we want the closest you’ll get to the real thing and ideally, if you shut yr eyes you’d be hard pushed to tell the difference. It’s a high bar, but that’s what we want to see and so do you, so whenever we discover a band like Heart of Rust, we’re all over it.

There’s more Neil Young tributes out there than he’s got albums, but very few if any perfectly (but not slavishly) recreate that raw, unfiltered, grinding but melodic take on rock n’roll that Neil Young & Crazy Horse have been cranking out all these years than Heart of Rust.

From the massive riffs of proto-grunge anthems like Cinnamon Girl and Powderfinger to the fragile heartbreakers like Cortez The Killer and My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue), this lot just nail every side of that extensive back catalogue. Trust us, if yr a fan, you do not want to miss this.

Not only that, it’s a matinee show as well! So you can come down, see an excellent band and bolt back up the road in time for dinner without worrying about sh*te public transport. Or you can just stay here and have a few more, nobody’s chucking you out…

But aye, if yr into Neil Young and Crazy Horse, you’ll love Heart of Rust. Guaranteed.

✊🏻🏴‍☠️💚

Heart Of Rust are playing McChuill’s on Sunday 28th of June from 1pm. Tickets are available now on Skiddle via link in de comments and on Tickets Scotland.

🚨CHEAP TICKETS & STAGE TIME INFO🚨

We are absolutely buzzing to be bringing yet another hero up to DJ in McChuills. A man who we have all been great admirers of for many, many years and one whose impact and influence on the UK music scene and culture in general cannot be underestimated…the legendary Eddie Piller. 🫡

After dropping into McChuills after a sold-out West End Soul in the City, Eddie told us he had to come back and do a gig here in “the coolest pub in Glasgow”, so who were we to argue? 😍

Support on the night comes from our own Baz Foster (Spinning Out) and the dynamic duo behind the High Street Funk & Soul Club, Paul Molloy and Stevie Watt, so you’ll want to get down early for this one. And if ye do and it’s before 9pm, tickets are only a fiver, because we like to have the place jumping from the off in here and we know you do too, eh? This is McChuills, we don’t go in for that slow-walk up nonsense you get everywhere else…

So who’s on when, you ask? Well, as it stands we’re looking at:

Baz Foster: 7-8
HSF&S: 8-9
Eddie Piller: 9-11
Baz Foster: 11-11:30
HSF&S: 11:30-12

You don’t want to be missing any of that do you? So you better get yr tickets asap ‘cos this one is a guaranteed sell-out.

***
First making an impact after recording the young James Taylor Quartet as they became the main draw in the burgeoning London jazz scene, Piller teamed up with DJ Gilles Peterson to establish the Acid Jazz Records label to push the scene into a fresh (and marketable) direction.

Success was immediate but Peterson left in 1989 to establish Talking Loud and Eddie concentrated on a new generation of signings. Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies, Corduroy, Gregory Isaacs all had substantial hits through the decade.

As of 2026, Piller has compiled more than 100 LP’s including the chart-topping On The Corner series with Martin Freeman, while opened internet station Totally Wired Radio (TWR) which is listened to in 95% of countries in the world.

The rain has been on and off all day, but you know what is definitely on?? The f**king RAVE that’s what.

Where else are you gonna find a pub on a Sunday night with a full PA system, club-level lighting, strobes, smoke and FRICKIN’ LASERS as well as a hefty dose of atmosphere that’s as good if not better than any “proper” club in the town?

As ever, the Lets Go Back crew are bringing their laid back and chilled Sunday Soundclash Rave. Ah, Sundays. Only for the headstrong. And the youth, the students, the unemployed as f**k, the divorcees and anyone else who’s up for it.

Anyway, you know the drill with the LGB crew by now, a soundtrack of anything and everything, from old-school hip hop, rave and house, through dub, breaks, tripped-out droney grooved and more, right up to the very latest in cutting-edge floorfillers, as well as anything else, from any genre. Well almost. One of these days Jules will make it down and be mixing Selena Gomez with Einsturzende neubauten.org just because he can and is a habitual line-stepper.

Oh and this week, the special guest is nine other than thee most-excellent Rushford.

“My sets blend house, techno, disco and Balearic sounds, combining deep grooves, uplifting rhythms and carefully selected records to create journeys that move seamlessly between genres and moods. Whether playing intimate venues or larger dance floors, the focus is always on connection, energy and creating memorable moments through music.

As co-founder of Open Hoose,a grassroots party series in Glasgow, I’ve helped build a welcoming space for music lovers, DJs and artists to come together and celebrate quality underground music. Through both Open Hoose and my DJ sets, I’m committed to championing community, inclusivity and the spirit of the dance floor.“

So what are ye waiting for? Get yrself down. You know it makes sense.

The weekend never ends in McChuills…

✊🏻🏴‍☠️💚

This week’s model is the top thuglet in Paisley, the beautiful Luna. 🙏🏻😍

30/05/2026

So there may have been some communication difficulties around the time of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup final the other week? Remember the one we predicted Celtic FC would beat Dunfermline Athletic FC 3-1…and they f**king did??!

Well, Celtic games will always be the domain of our founder, the great and wise Auld Nick the White. But we’ve decided to pass over other games to another oracle. A rounder, smoother-surfaced crystal ball that proved invaluable in last week’s correct score.

This we’re asking the Crystal Blair.

There’s no chat from him, as he is an inanimate object, but one that knows it’s stuff, as we have already seen and the transmission has been received.

It’s kicks off at five bells, for some insane reason*, but we’ll have it on anyway, full commentary and chat, no music over the top of it, loads of swally for sale and minesweeping if times are tight and a pub full of the soundest cvnts since the last time we were open.

So get yrself down this eve** and celebrate the ongoing ruin of the working class man’s (and woman’s) game with us. It won’t be the same without you and we’d genuinely love to see you.

✊🏻🏴‍☠️💚

PSG - Paris Saint-Germain v Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final is on the telly in McChuills via those lovely people at TNT Sports from 5pm. Entry is free!

*Money. It’s f**kin’ money. Of course it is. Cvnts.

** BTW, the Co-Accused night tonight with Dave Angel and Funk D'Void is so sold out it’s not true. Stop asking, you disorganised throbbers. Folk are really busy and yr stressing them out. See when we tell you things are gonna sell out and don’t sleep on them? We’re actually giving you a heads up. Honestly. 🤦🏻‍♂️🖤

🚨ACCURATE WORLD CUP IN McCHUILLS INFO🚨

Football has always been free in McChuill’s and it always will be. 🙏🏻

For 33 years, you’ve all been coming in here to watch games, even when they’re sh*te, buying drink, supporting the pub and making it what it is just by being here. So taking the opportunity to make some extra filthy lucre cos Scotland National Team are in the FIFA World Cup by selling tickets just to get in the pub? Nah. No shade to anyone/pretty much everyone else doing it, but it doesn’t sit right with us. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you, so we’re not gonna bump you.

We aren’t doing free tickets either, as at least 3/4 of the pub runs on ADHD and Red Stripe, so there’s almost no chance most of our regulars (of which there are loads) would get it together in time before they were all gone… 🤦🏻‍♂️

So what’s the deal? Well, it’s free in, first come first served. So you need to work out how early you can get down but still not be absolute disgrace by the time we’re kicking off. It’s a tricky one. Oh and for games that start at 2am, we’re not opening the pub til 2pm, just for the sake of our staff’s sanity, cos these nights are going to be off the scale. Long lies all round. 11pm kick offs are usual opening times.

So aye, for the avoidance of doubt…

Football has always been free in McChuill’s and it always will be. 🙏🏻

✊🏻🏴‍☠️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💚

We’ve checked now and Scotland v Haiti is definitely on the telly via the BBC in McChuills on Friday 6th June from 2am. God help us all.
