🚨FREE RAVE ALERT🚨

One more reminder, tomorrow night in the Acid Arch, we’re throwing a party. Not just any party, this one is a proper full-on rave, hosted by those professional party monsters, the Lets Go Back Crew. And in the spirit of the infamous parties back in the day, this one is completely free.

As ever, the LGB residents Bosco and Rob Mason are on the bill, backed up by two of our favourite guests who’ve played here with them recently, thee immense Just Rory and Rushford.

Just Rory is a Glasgow-based DJ and producer focusing on house, disco, Italo and beyond. Having played across Scotland, and recently making his international debut, he delivers groove-led sets that move effortlessly between styles, keeping listeners engaged throughout.

Rushford’s sets blend house, techno, disco and Balearic sounds, combining deep grooves, uplifting rhythms and carefully selected records to create journeys that move seamlessly between genres and moods. Whether playing intimate venues or larger dance floors, the focus is always on connection, energy and creating memorable moments through music.

As co-founder of Open Hoose, a grassroots party series in Glasgow, they’ve helped build a welcoming space for music lovers, DJs and artists to come together and celebrate quality underground music.

Any time Let’s Go Back play in here, it’s off the scale, but this one is going to be another level. And it’s free.

Get yrself down and get involved, you know it makes sense.

✊🏻🏴‍☠️💚

Let’s Go Back’s Free Party is happening in McChuill’s tomorrow, Saturday August 8th, from 7pm to midnight. Entry is (obviously) free.

🚨Last Few Tickets Release Alert🚨

It’s no secret that if we really like a band, but we can’t get them into McChuill’s, we’ll just use another venue.

Another VU are one of those bands.

The London-based band not only perfectly reproduce The Velvet Underground’s seminal music, but recreate the groundbreaking multimedia shows they performed during their collaboration with Andy Warhol from 1966 to 1967.

This is no basic tribute act, with the band investing in vintage instruments, amps and lighting equipment, and even hand-building discontinued items in order to faithfully recreate those pioneering moments in art, music and performance for a modern audience.

Inspired by Andy Warhol’s multimedia vision and original EPI lighting designer Danny Williams’ electrical innovations - which were influential to the development of psychedelic light shows, and later disco, rave, and contemporary stage lighting - their light shows consist of manually-controlled strobes (operated in rhythm with the music), as well as coloured spot lamps, aimed at our custom-built reproduction of Warhol’s antique mirror ball, creating orbiting polka dot reflections all around. Additionally, a liquid light show will produce psychedelic convection current visuals against the rear stage wall, alongside slide/moiré projections, and the sole digital element of the show, which is new Another VU film projections (replacing the original 16mm Warhol films of the Velvets).

The result is a mesmerising explosion of electrifying sound and kaleidoscopic imagery, just like the original (and now legendary) Exploding Plastic Inevitable.

Unless you were there back in the day, you’ve never seen a show like this, so if you love the Velvets as much as we do, you really don’t want to miss this one.

As we expected, this has sold like f**k, but there’s a few left still, so if you’ve not pulled the trigger yet, now’s the time…

Tomorrow night in the bar, we have the return of the bold Baz Foster on the McChuill’s decks with his always-amazing Spinning Out! night.

As ever he’ll be dropping nothing but original vintage vinyl, with nary a bootleg to be seen. Expect the very best in Northern and Rare Soul, ‘60s and ‘70s Soul, Garage, Mod, ‘60s Pop, and even some Modern Soul getting thrown into the mix. Baz knows how to get a party going so this is, as ever, guaranteed to be a belter…

It’s kicking off at eight bells and runs til close, so get yrself down and get yr groove on. You know it makes sense.

The weekend starts in McChuills…

After a busy and not at all infuriating summer of transfers, Celtic FC are back in action tonight with their first game of the season, at home to Steven Pressley’s Dundee Football Club.

The media overlords at Sky Sports are graciously showing it so we will of course have it on all the screens and as ever, will have our own benevolent overlord DJ Nicky spinning all yr favourite McChuills anthems before and after it. So if yr heading to the game, fire in before and/or after it and if ye not, fire in anyway and join us in shouting at the telly. 🙏🏻

Oh and this season, we’re doing something new with the Super-Duper Fitbaw Computer predictions. Yes, we’ve now got TWO Super-Duper Fitbaw Computers!* Surely to god one of them will get a result, eh?

So let’s hear what they’ve got to say for themselves….

🤖🤖🤖
“Looking forward to seeing all our new signings. The board must be congratulated in monitoring so so many situations, as it’s not easy and of course dealing with agents. Tough gig. Anyway…a comprehensive 3-0 victory and let’s go…”

“Even with Celtic losing a few players they will have enough quality as well as home advantage to win comfortably. I can see one of the new signings Duran or Høgh opening their tally but can see Dundee sneaking a goal through Reilly or Murray. 3-1 to Celtic.”
🤖🤖🤖

*We just asked Auld Nick and Blair 🥴

✊🏻🏴‍☠️💚

Celtic v Dundee is on the telly in McChuills tonight via Sky Sports from 7:30. Entry is free!

Tonight we are once again honoured to have thee legendary Andrew Divine! spinning records in the bar again! The big chap has been one of our favourite DJs for actual decades, so having him as a resident here in McChuills will never be anything other than a Very Big Deal to us. His Digging With Divine residency is a real “anything-goes-eclectic-digging-in-the-crates-yo!” session, so I expect the unexpected or to be more precise: punk funk soul garage indie house hip hop funk pop etc etc…

Get yrself down, get yr groove on and most likely, discover yr new favourite song that you never knew existed. 🪩

Digging With Divine is happening in McChuills tonight, Saturday August 1st from 8pm-midnight. Entry is free!
