🚨LOW TICKET WARNING!🚨
Indie rock icons Maxïmo Park celebrate 20 years since the release of their Mercury Prize-nominated breakthrough debut album "A Certain Trigger" with a special one-off show at the Cheese and Grain.

Presented by Allotment Live

The Mercury Prize-nominated record, produced by Paul Epworth and released on Warp, arrived with a trio of iconic singles in 'Apply Some Pressure', 'Graffiti', and 'Going Missing', each of which still define the indie disco experience for many to this day. Released at the time into a landscape soon to become dominated by ten-a-penny guitar bands, with A Certain Trigger, Maxïmo Park were the bookish, livewire outsiders, bursting with punk power, pop sensibility and literary smarts.

Even their signing to Warp records - a label predominantly known for its experimental and electronic roster at the time - suggested a band with its eyes set beyond the horizon.

Almost immediately, and certainly in the time since its release, A Certain Trigger has installed itself as a scene staple, and a curiosity of the 00s that packs as much power today as it did 20 years ago.

Lead singer Paul Smith says "Not many bands make it to a twentieth year together so we’re having a big celebration, with a special 20th anniversary tour and by giving a fresh perspective to A Certain Trigger. Our first album remains dear to so many people, and compiling archive material for the reissue has been like entering a time machine - thrilling, but also a bit scary! Happily, we think the music has more than stood the test of time, and the tour, where we'll revisit many of the beloved older songs, will be a joyful experience for both us and our audience. Playing live has always been at the heart of what we do, and we still feel the same exhilaration stepping onto the stage as we did in the beginning, but now with even more appreciation of the moment, and the roar of the crowds."

Direct from Los Angeles, dark roots and gothic country American supergroup Heathen Apostles featuring former members of Cramps, Radio Noir, Kings of Nythin', and Christian Death head to Frome as part of Frome Festival 2026.

Part of Frome Festival 2026

Born of the voices of past lives and baptized in the dust bowl dirt, the Gothic Americana music of the Heathen Apostles harkens back to a bygone chapter of American history. Using contrasting influences such as Bauhaus, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and The Pogues along with Howlin’ Wolf, Loretta Lynn (the band covers her classic Fist City) and Bessie Smith, the Heathen Apostles have created a style of music that will conjure both angels and demons, and will enlighten a darkened soul.

Forming the band together in 2013, Mather Louth (Radio Noir) and rock n roll veteran Chopper Franklin (The Cramps, Mau Maus, Nick Curran & the Lowlifes) quickly uncovered a mutual appreciation for murder balladry, Americana, and memento mori. The landscape was further tilled with the addition of Luis Mascaro on violin.

Their 6 critically acclaimed albums, along with their many EPs and singles (their release The Fall was named Best EP of 2018 by Folk n Rock magazine), capture the essence of the Heathen Apostles modus operandi: Southern Gothic Americana imagery surrounded by haunting, minor-chord melodies, musical influences including Gothic Roots music, Bluegrass, Blues, and Gypsy Jazz, all deftly bound together by the band’s dark and sometimes brooding sense of a bygone age.

Most recently, the band completed tours of both mainland Europe as well as the UK in support of their latest release, The In Between, with plans to return for two tours in 2026 in support of their forthcoming EP.

“If there is such a thing in the current fringe roots genre as a supergroup, it would certainly be the Los Angeles-based dark roots and alt-country band HeathenApostles, whose participating artists have includ ed ex-members of Radio Noir (Mather Louth), The Cramps (Chopper Franklin), Kings of Nuthin and Christian Death in its ranks. That is one hell of a lineup. And their collective musical output is equally impressive.” – James Carlson, No Depression

“If you’re familiar with the gritty western TV show Deadwood, you could imagine The Heathen Apostles as the ideal inhouse band for Al Swearengen’s GemSaloon.” – Chris Broom, The Portsmouth News

“With their iconic blend of Gothic aesthetics and Americana influences, Heathen Apostles set out to create a sound that’s easy to describe as one-of-a-kind. The group’s music is as charismatic as the band’s lush dark aesthetics, bringing a cinematic edge to their sound.” – Folk n Rock Magazine (Awarded the Heathen Apostles’ album “Dust to Dust” 2019 Album of the Year)

A singer and actor, a TV host and author, a multiple BRIT Award nominee and a film star – Toyah has worn many hats during a remarkable career spanning more than 50 years. The High Priestess of Punk burst onto the scene in 1976 as she forged dual careers as a musician and actress who featured at The National Theatre and London’s Royal Court.

Her role in Quadrophenia made her a household name and soon after she gatecrased the charts with It’s A Mystery, I Want To Be Free, and Thunder In The Mountains, as the album, Anthem, earned a gold disc and BRIT nominations for Best Female and British Breakthrough Act. She married King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp in 1986 and she starred opposite Sir Laurence Olivier and The Who’s Roger Daltrey, among others. Acting, presenting, performing, headlining tours, and releasing 16 studio albums continued her unique story and now it’s time to reflect.

With a new book in the offing, Toyah is hitting the road for an extensive UK tour in which she’ll sing favourite hits and tell stories from her remarkable career.

FIFA World Cup is about to take over this summer and we couldn't wait to bring football Frome, so we are hosting a special big match screening of England's warm-up friendly game with New Zealand.

England vs New Zealand
Big Match Free Screening

Saturday 6th June
Cheese and Grain, Frome
Free Entry
10+ (under 16's accompanied by an adult)
Doors 8pm - Kick Off 9pm

England will face New Zealand on the eve of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Thomas Tuchel looking to justify his somewhat questionable squad selection. Jordan Henderson anywhere near the squad while Adam Wharton is at home? Djed Spence getting picked over Lewis Hall? No room for Cole Palmer, Harry Maguire or Trent Alexander-Arnold?

Tuchel hopes his team impresses under the Florida sun for this Saturday night football screening. Players will be looking to secure their starting spot, and fans will be eager to see what we can expect from our team. So this should be a fascinating watch, without the pressure of tournament football.

Get ready for the most epic mashup in rock history! Elvis Fronted Nirvana is coming to Frome at long last, as Elvana make their Cheese and Grain debut this September!

Elvana Elvis Fronted Nirvana

Thursday 10th September
Cheese and Grain, Frome
£34 advance (+ standard service charge)

ELVANA – THE WORLD’S FINEST ELVIS FRONTED TRIBUTE TO NIRVANA!

From somewhere deep in the bowels of Disgraceland, the King of Rock & Roll steps out of the afterlife, plugs in, and takes the mic for the band that changed the ’90s forever. Elvis fronts Nirvana. No compromise. Just pure, electrified chaos.

Blending the swagger of rockabilly with the raw punch of grunge, Elvana rips through Nirvana’s catalogue while smashing it together with the finest moments of Elvis Presley’s legacy. Expect overdriven riffs, hip-shaking grooves, loud guitars, louder screams, and the kind of mash-ups that feel wrong until they feel absolutely perfect. It smells like cheeseburgers and teen spirit, daddy-o.

Described as “Bafflingly Brilliant” by The Guardian, “Absolutely f**king epic” by NME, and “The only band worth getting excited about this year” by Vice, Elvana have built a reputation as one of the wildest live experiences on the planet. Even Billy Idol joked that if Elvis were still around, he’d probably be covering Nirvana anyway.

Two icons. One stage. Zero rules.

If you haven’t seen Elvana yet, you’re missing out.
If you have, you already know… and you’re probably checking tour dates right now.

Stupid and contagious. In the absolute best way!

In 1996, he co-founded Gomez with Ian Ball, Tom Gray, Paul Blackburn, and Olly Peacock while studying at university in Sheffield.

Gomez quickly gained attention with their debut album, “Bring It On,” released in 1998, which won the Mercury Music Prize.
