Best of luck to Ederney in todayโs Fermanagh GAA Senior Football Championship semi-final against reigning champions Erne Gaels at Brewster Park. Throw-in at 2.30pm.
The two sides already served up a thriller in the opening group game, which ended in a dramatic draw. On that occasion in Belleek, Erne Gaels looked to be cruising with a 12-point lead early in the second half, but Ederney, aided by the breeze, produced a spirited comeback to earn a deserved share of the points.
That result proved pivotal: Ederney went on to top their group and book a direct route to the semi-final, while Erne Gaels secured second place. Both teams have grown stronger as the competition has progressed, and each will know theyโll need to be at their very best to claim a place in the final.
Ederneyโs last championship triumph came in 2020, with much of that successful panel still available to the current Ederney manager Chris Kelly. Between the posts, the ever-reliable Chris Snow brings assurance, while Declan McCusker drives the team forward from half-back, supported by the in-form Finbar Gillen.
In midfield, Shaun McCarron, who has had an excellent championship input so far, along with Conor McGee, should add pace and power. Up front, the scoring burden will fall on the superb talent of Sean Cassidy, the experienced Paul McCusker, and the returning Mark McCauley.
With so much quality on both teams, another close encounter is expected, and it wouldnโt be a surprise if extra time is needed to decide the winner.
