This ain’t a bad review to receive after last nights steak night! (I missed last night so I’m having it tonight 😜)

“Didn’t think I’d be comparing Steak Night to some of the best steaks I’ve had in London but here we are. Hats off to the boys in the kitchen tonight.”

Now, we’re not about to start charging London prices or pretending Fordham is the West End, but comments like this make all the hard work worthwhile. Massive credit goes to Jake Howells and the kitchen team who put everything into every service, especially on our special nights.

To everyone who joined us last night, thank you. To everyone who leaves reviews like this, thank you even more. And if you haven’t tried Steak Night yet… well, apparently you don’t need to travel to London for a great steak after all…

Right… I’ll own it. I made a mistake…I was always told if you fu%% up own it so hear you go…..

Apparently not everyone thinks like me and wants to swap a Sunday roast for a BBQ in the middle of summer. Who knew?!….

When we stopped the roasts, I genuinely thought I was giving you something different. Instead, you all politely, constructively and repeatedly told me I was completely wrong!!!!

So firstly, thank you. The feedback was honest, fair and actually really helpful. Secondly... THE ROASTS ARE COMING BACK!!!!

That’s right, from NEXT SUNDAY 14th the famous Crown Sunday Roasts return and will remain every Sunday. Crisis averted. Pitches, forks and strongly worded Facebook comments can now be put away…

As for BBQ Sundays... well... they’ve had a shorter run than some Premier League managers. This Sunday will be their final appearance after a whopping two-week career. 🤣!!!

BUT... all is not lost! The BBQ platters will move to Saturdays instead and will run fortnightly from 13th June. So if you fancy Smokey meats, sunshine and pretending we're in Spain rather than Fordham, you'll still get your fix, wind rain or shine…

The lesson here? Sometimes you've got to try things. Sometimes they work. Sometimes 300 people tell you to put it back how it was. 😜…

Roasts are back. The world is healing. See you Sunday.. if not this one cos you don’t want BBQ, the next one right… cos the roasts return..

P.s, to allow for prep to cover both these amazing offerings, there will be No food served on a Monday lunchtime moving forward… I had to do a little compromise with the chefs…

News on the Sunday roasts tomorrow…

Right… I need your help before our management meeting tomorrow… and yes, I’m fully prepared for some of you to tell me I’ve got this one wrong! 😜

When we decided to stop the Sunday Roast Platters for the summer and launch BBQ Sundays, my thinking was simple… who eats a roast when it’s 25 degrees outside? Certainly not me! Apparently, however, the flaw in that plan is that not everyone is me… thank God. 🤦‍♂️

Week one of BBQ Sundays has been and gone, and whilst the feedback on the BBQ was brilliant, there was one message that came through loud and clear…

“Bring back the roasts!”

Now, The Crown has become pretty well known for those roast platters, and if I’ve made the wrong call, I’ll happily hold my hands up and admit it. Running a pub isn’t about being right all the time, it’s about listening to the people who actually keep the place alive… that’s you lot.

So, what do you think? Do we stick with BBQ Sundays? Do we bring the roasts back? Is there some magical solution that means everyone leaves happy?

Well… this is awkward. I only took on this pub cos in true ADHD impulse style I had too…. and somehow we have ended up being named one of just SIX nominees in the Great British Pub Awards 2026 for Admiral Pub of the Year!!!

Now, before anyone gets carried away, let's remember we've only been at this pub game a few months. We’re still learning where things are kept, occasionally pressing the wrong buttons on the till, and apparently serving enough pints to get noticed!!!

This nomination isn't about us though… Nope….it's about every single one of you. The customers, the staff, the locals, the visitors, the dogs, the children running around the garden, and even the occasional grumpy bloke who tells me exactly what's wrong with everything every Sunday…

To be recognised alongside some of the best pubs in the country is absolutely incredible and something I genuinely never expected.

So, thank you Fordham. Thank you for backing us, supporting us, and making The Crown what it is.

Big news coming tomorrow….

Right then, before anyone turns up today expecting a burger, steak or anything else that requires a chef, remember there is no food available today or tomorrow lunchtime while the kitchen team work their magic and prepare for the launch of our brand-new menu.

The good news is that the new menu officially launches tomorrow evening, and the chefs have been working hard to make sure it's worth the wait!

Then we roll straight into Steak Night on Wednesday, which is already looking like it could be a busy one, so get those tables booked.

….And because we're clearly not very good at keeping all the money for ourselves, we're giving you 20% off food from Thursday through to Saturday this week…meaning there has never been a better or cheaper time to come and try the new menu. So, no food today, no food tomorrow lunchtime, new menu tomorrow evening, Steak Night Wednesday, and 20% off Thursday to Saturday. If that's not enough to get you through the next 48 hours, I don't know what is….

Update from yesterday….

Together you raised an incredible £800 for charity, all while everyone was having fun!

This was dropped in tonight..thanking us all for helping raise money for Barth Syndrome UK. We never do these things for recognition or thanks, but little gestures like this remind you why it’s so important to keep supporting good causes whenever we can.

To every single person who attended, donated, bought a raffle ticket, thank you. Every one of you helped make a difference and together we’ve raised a fantastic amount for charity!

Fordham, you’ve done it again. Thank you.

OMG! Right... firstly, a huge thank you to my lovely neighbours for putting up with BEEFA Day yesterday and the Champions League Final! As promised, we were respectful, the music was off just after 10pm and we actually called time at 10:15pm because, quite frankly, my amazing team were absolutely shattered!

Speaking of the team... every single member of staff who worked yesterday, take a bow. You were beyond amazing. It was relentless from start to finish and not once did anyone stop grafting. Thank you.

Now onto you lot... WOW. Thank you to every single one of you who turned up. The turnout was completely unprecedented and the atmosphere was absolutely incredible. The outside bar was installed, but the T-bar wasn't quite ready in time, so sadly that didn't happen. However, yesterday was one massive learning curve. The one-way system wasn't exactly part of the master plan, but somehow... it worked... ish! The reality is the bar and storage areas are just too small for what landed on us yesterday, but the team absolutely smashed it under the circumstances.

And then there's the DJ... what an absolute legend. Kept it beautifully chilled during the day, then slowly turned it up as the evening rolled on until pretty much every one of you was on the dance floor pretending you were 21 again. Some of you were more convincing than others...

The clean-up operation is now underway. The till system appears to have suffered some sort of emotional breakdown, but let's not do that again for a few months... actually, make that a good few months!

Finally, a huge shout-out to Liam, who walked away with the bottle. Whether skill, luck or some sort of dark magic was involved remains under investigation…. No wait it was called… TEMU…

Thank you all. Yesterday was bonkers, brilliant and exactly why we do what we do. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to find coffee... a Heyfever injection….and possibly a new till.
