Well then… another quiz night done and another £100 heading off to two fantastic charities… yes two!!!!

Now, last night’s quiz was supposed to be a little different. We dropped the usual £4 entry fee down to £2, with every penny going to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Simple enough, right? WRONG….

Turns out you lot have other ideas! You decided you wanted to pay the usual £4 anyway, with £2 going to the Poppy Appeal and the other £2 going to a charity chosen by the winning team….

I mean… who am I to argue with customers who actually want to give me more money for amazing causes.

So, thanks to you lovely lot, another £50 has gone into our Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal pot, and this morning we’ve also donated £50 to Kidney Research UK, as chosen by last night’s quiz winners.

That’s £100 raised in one evening, just by getting a few question wrong, arguing over the answers and then accusing the quizmaster of making half of them up….

In a couple of weeks, The Crown will officially be one years old…

And I have to say, when we first opened the doors, I genuinely had no idea just how much this little village pub would go on to do.

Over the past year, we’ve donated to some absolutely amazing local and national causes, helped people where we can, supported our community and somehow managed to sell a few pints and burgers along the way!

And the best bit…..Every person who walks through our doors, buys a pint, joins an event, enters a quiz or simply supports what we’re trying to build is bloody amazing!

I know I bang on about this pub quite a lot, but I really am incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together in just one year..

Turns out The Crown isn’t actually a bad little place to visit after all hey!

Good food, good b**r, questionable quiz answers and a community with a bloody big heart…

Thank you all. Genuinely.

Imagine what trouble I’m going to get myself into in year two…

Well, as of this morning, our Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal pot has reached a fantastic £344 quid!

That’s all thanks to you lovely lot doing what you do best… enjoying a pint or two down here! Remember, I’m donating 20p from every pint sold right up until 11th November, so there’s still plenty of time to get that total up!

Now though,I need your help… we’ve got just over a week left, and I’d absolutely love to see how much more we can raise together. We all can do our bit, and sometimes the smallest contributions make the biggest difference right….

Tomorrow night we’ve got our Quiz Night, and there are still a few spaces left for teams! Even better, all the money raised from the quiz will be going straight into our Poppy Appeal pot! So get your mates together, come and have a laugh, test those brain cells and help us raise a few more quid…

I reckon we can give this total a proper push this week…

And remember… drinking b**r for charity is probably the best excuse you’re going to get all year!!

A bit of country for this Halloween 🎃….

It’s 5am so thought I’d wish you all a Happy Halloween…

Tonight we’ve got the one and only Lucky Luke back with us from 8:30pm! We’ve deliberately started the music a little later so you can enjoy your dinner before the cowboy boots start tapping and the questionable dancing begins! Fancy dress encouraged and it’s anything goes, as long as you protect yours and others decency please, I don’t need people being put of dinner!…… and remember, best costume wins a Sunday roast for two! So make an effort… sticking a bedsheet over your head doesn’t count because that’s what Arthur would do! (He’s 5 remember!)

Now, looking at Sunday roasts… I’ve just had a little look at the bookings and… we’re full this Sunday and now filling up into December…Clearly word’s got around that we know what we’re doing….my advice if you want to get booked in before Christmas, book a date in the diary, yes you know we take a £10 deposit per head, and I know life changes, so if you book and you can’t make it.. providing you give us 24 hours notice, we’re just move the booking for you… it’s not like I’m going to sn**ch the tenner!

You’ve also only got four weeks left to enjoy our current menu before the Christmas smokehouse flavours make their grand entrance!….So if you’ve got a favourite dish, now’s the time to get your fix before we start getting festive…..(oh I just love Christmas 🙄)

And last one from me…… PIE NIGHT IS BACK THIS WEDNESDAY!

I’ve seen the menu and honestly… LOOKSSSSS SO GOOD! We’re talking proper pies… none of this stew with a pastry hat nonsense….If you love a good pie, get yourself booked in online because you know what happens… everyone leaves it until the last minute and then I get messages asking if I can squeeze another 12 people in and most of the time we work magic… but I’m losing the magical touch of late so it’s not always possible.

Right, that’s enough from me… been up for a while and achieved nothing….Happy Halloween, enjoy your Saturday and hopefully plenty of you will be in tonight for a bit of country music, a few drinks and some truly tragic dancing!

Right we’re only a week into our Poppy Appeal and you lovely lot have already helped us raise over £220 quid!

Just a reminder that 20p from every pint we sell….extended now till the 11/11, goes straight to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, so every pint really will make a difference!

Now, onto this Saturday! We’ve got the one and only Lucky Luke back with us, bringing those country Halloween vibes, I’m looking forward to this one….cowgirl boots are promised! So come on, get yourselves dressed up, dust off those cowboy hats, grab your mates and come and have a proper good night with us. Don’t forget, there’s a Sunday roast for two up for grabs for the best fancy dress!

The best bit for me is knowing that while we’re all having a laugh, enjoying a few pints and hopefully watching some questionable dancing, we’re also raising money for a cause that means so much to many people.

Just a couple of bits from me tonight…Firstly, I’m absolutely delighted to say that our Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal campaign has already raised OVER £160! That’s from donating just 20p from every pint sold! What a fantastic effort so far, and a massive thank you to everyone who’s helped us get there. Keep drinking… it’s for a good cause after all…

Secondly… 31st October is our Lucky Luke Halloween Party…..And yes, we want you all in FANCY DRESS! I’m even throwing in a little competition… the best costume on the night will win a Sunday roast for TWO on me….So dig out those costumes, make an effort and come and have a brilliant night with us! I’m expecting some shockers…
