IT’S COMING HOME!!!

The Maid’s Head pub sign is finally about to return, and this time it’s going back up in almost its original form!

A huge thank you to Titch for returning the original piece that holds the sign on top of the post. It’s fantastic to be able to put part of the pub’s history back where it belongs.

The sign will be going back up in around two weeks, once the brickwork is complete. In the meantime, we’re letting the concrete properly set — we don’t want it going anywhere!

A massive thank you to London Mick for putting the post up completely free of charge, and for his brilliant character, support and enthusiasm in helping Jamie bring the pub back to being the community hub it once was.

And finally, a huge thank you to Jamie and his team behind the scenes ( Sophie, Melissa and Collin ) for the hard work, determination and dedication they have put in over the past 10 months to get the village pub sign back where it belongs.

It’s been a long journey, but we’re nearly there.

We’ve got a busy week ahead!

With new menus, new opening times and some great new offers, we thought we’d give you a rundown of what’s happening this week.

TUESDAY – PIZZA NIGHT
NEW OPENING TIME of 4:30pm, our pizza menu has a wide range of juicy toppings, plus desserts and starters.

WEDNESDAY – NEW AUTUMN MENU
Our brand-new Main Menu launches, alongside our usual weekly specials.

THURSDAY – THRIFTY THURSDAY
If you’re 65 or over, join us at lunchtime and choose from 3 delicious mains plus a hot drink for just £10.

We’ll also have our great-value, high quality menu:

Feed 2 for £24
Feed 4 for £46

These will alternate between chicken and pie, with vegetarian options available.

Open the Box continues in its usual Thursday slot at 7pm.

FRIDAY – VILLAGE SOCIAL
Friday is our Village Social – come along and join us from 6pm.

SUNDAY
Roasts as usual with tweaks to the mains and starters to reflect the season.

Meet Becky.

Becky is Jamie’s close friend, personal shopper, sounding board and, more importantly, one of his biggest motivators.

She might not be hands-on with the day-to-day running of The Maid’s Head, but she’s always there behind the scenes, helping with the pub’s needs, keeping Jamie motivated and stepping in whenever an emergency crops up.

Running a pub can be a rollercoaster, and having someone you can rely on, laugh with, bounce ideas off and turn to when things get tough is worth its weight in gold.

Becky is one of those people who quietly plays a much bigger part than most people realise.

So, meet Becky — one of Jamie’s biggest supporters behind the scenes at The Maid’s Head.

OUR NEW MENUS ARE COMING NEXT WEEK

We’re really excited to be launching our BRAND NEW MAIN MENU, along with the return of PIZZA TUESDAYS!

While you were all out baking in the summer sun, we were in the kitchen putting a lot of thought into the new Autumn menu. We wanted to get the balance of costs and choice just right.

You’ll find familiar favourites on the menu including our lunchtime toasted sandwiches, and if pub classics aren’t what you fancy, that’s where our weekly specials come in (see yesterday's post for this week's dishes). They give our chefs the chance to be a little more creative, make the most of seasonal ingredients and offer something different alongside the classics.

And Tuesdays are pizza night again!

Pizza is off the main menu and they get a night all of their own EVERY TUESDAY, giving you another reason to ditch cooking and head to the pub instead.

Whether you fancy a pub classic, a Tuesday pizza, or something a little different from the specials menu, we hope we’ve created something for everyone.

Autumn is upon us!

The “R” is back in the month, which can only mean two things… mussels are back on the menu AND our monthly quiz nights are back!

We’ve also been snuffling out some beautiful black truffles to add a little something special to our dishes this week.

The standout special this week has to be our Spinney Abbey fillet of beef Wellington — served with creamy potatoes, carrot and a rich red wine jus. And, because why not… add a little black truffle to make it extra special.

And there’s plenty going on too…
